$500 top prize, very generous of gigabyte that.
It annoys me to see girls in these kinds of events. They are just there for the eye candy!
the winner gets no pic, but the 2nd place chick gets hers. Hmmm puzzling. Why on earth would they do that. And who's the poor guy in the background all alone?
Oh dear... The over-PC brigade is out in force, I see.
8 Pack was the winner, yes, but using 3 water-cooled 7970s. So, basically, be brought a pre-assembled setup that basically sat there doing very little, and looked different, but not especially flashy. Second-placed Vivi busted out the liquid nitrogen - something that us PC enthusiasts get a little giddy over. She's not just clicking "Increase clocks 5%" followed by "Run 3DMark", over and over again. This is as close to a real action shot of the competition as you're likely to get without a motherboard exploding.
Well I reckon it's cos she's a girl, and one who looks vaguely normal and not too bad looking. It's nothing to with being PC. It's about advertising. Why do you think gigabyte et al plaster their ads with women models? Look at the chap next to her. If it was just him I bet they wouldn't have shown it.
And to be frank, if I were the winner I'd be hacked off at not getting my pic up there somewhere!
Vivi is the guy btw
It's possible the girl is his gf, as I think they've done stuff in the past together, but I don't know in this instance.
What I mean is , companies use girls in these events to provide eye candy. If they knew anything about hardware, that would be great! If I wanted to look at pretty girls, I would go to a club. There's a time and place for everything.
You also have lot of girls being used to give game reviews , when they haven't even played the game and they just read from a script.
