The m500 and the samsung are 'new drives'; i am not sure where you are getting newer from for the samsung ?

Also in relation to speed neither you or I will notice it.

Once you step away from HDD's to SSD's there is very little in it. The cheap 120gb ssd that i fitted into the laptop that is limited to 'only' sata 1.5gbps boots in the same time that my main desktop with a sata 6gbps ssd does.

So is this survey working again? Or just the link to the survey?
Of course I'm perfect you just need to lower your expectations.

    Thanks.

I did it it anyway and lo! it entered me into the draw but no code. Oh well...I'll get annoyed if I get a marked increase in SSD/Ram related spam.

I suspect with a fresh firmware and install that it'll be a cracking drive - I'll probably buy one tomorrow at this price.

Eh, if it's just speed then I'm not worried at all, I can't really notice the difference between SATA2 bandwidth-limited SSDs and SATA3 ones anyway so I imagine the difference between a Crucial M500 and Samsung Evo is almost negligible for basic everyday use.

However, reliability is a concern though, Crucial generally made reliable drives, especially with the M4 so I don't think reliability should be an issue with Crucial. Just did a quick Google and it doesn't seem as if any recent M500s are failing abnormally.

Re: News - Promo: Win one of ten 120GB Crucial M500 SSDs

Who do I contact about this survey, is it Micron that's running it or Hexus.net?

I carried out the survey a few days back to get my £10 money off, and enter the competition. I was presented with a code at the end of the survey and a note that stated the code will remain valid up until the 28th of February 2014.

When I tried to use the code today to buy an SSD at Crucial's shop, the code comes up as invalid. What gives, that's a bit cheeky...?

I know what I'm entering is correct as I printed it off at the end of the survey; who do I contact to get a valid code?

unlucky! A load of folk found it on HUKD and Crucial pulled the offer due to loads of non-tech folk a) skewing their MR survey results with BS answers and b) it was intended for a limited range of folk on the forums not a wider audience. Fail goes to Crucial for not making it unique individual codes, or linking it to forum usernames.

TBH someone suddenly appearing with 0 post history asking what gives might appear to many others to be one of those people who drifted in via HUKD and ruined it for everyone else. Luckily your join date is Oct2011 which helps suggest otherwise. How on earth have you been 2 years without making a SINGLE post?

Going back to your question I suggest contacting no-one, as I doubt you'll get far. Offers are at their discretion and "subject to availability". I took a screen print at the time, it clearly says that. Thanks to the HUKD surge that availability is now gone. So they have ended the offer in accordance with their T&C.

I don't know which size you wanted to buy, but if you use the site that is being blamed for withdrawal of the code you will find that the 240GB version at least is available from other retailers for a little less than it would've been with this deal anyway.

    LOL@2011

I do browse here, but the white, pale blue and orange clashes too much for me; so I tend to comment more on overclock.net and OCUK forums.

Regarding the T&C's, I actually also screenshot them and the T&C's doesn't say that on my screenshot.

This is word for word what it says:
Thanks very much for participating, your feedback is much appreciated. Your voucher code for £10 off your next purchase is ******* - This is valid until February the 28th, for any purchase of SSD or Crucial Ballistix memory. You have also been entered into our prize draw for the chance to win 1 of 10 120GB Crucial M500 SSDs!

    Terms & Conditions :

    - Your data will not be shared. We will only contact you if you are a winner.

The competition winners will be picked at random from all eligible entries that arrive by midnight of the closing date, 10 March, 2014.

    - Ten prizes to be won - First to tenth prize is a Crucial M500 120GB 2.5-inch Internal SSD. Each of the ten winners will receive one prize.

In the event that the prize offered is unavailable due to circumstances beyond our control, we reserve the right to offer an alternative prize of equal or greater specification.

    - Prize draws are not open to employees of HEXUS, MICRON and their affiliates, agencies, suppliers, sponsors and members employees' immediate families.

    - Submission of an entry will be taken to mean acceptance of these terms and conditions.
It doesn't say anywhere there that "Offers are at their discretion and "subject to availability". Not at all.

I can appreciate the fact that this promotion may have been ruined by the likes of HUKD, but wouldn't it be more fair to us (the ones who actually did the survey) to be forwarded a new discount code to our emails of something?

Also, whats the situation of the competition, is it still going ahead, are all the people that originally did the survey still entered in to it ?

    Wheres the official announcement?

I can't even finish the stupid survey because I'm stuck at question #15. It won't let me select what I want and if I try to continue anyway it complains "Please choose only 5 options." (with no tick marks at all.. WTF?)

So hats off to Crucial they sent me another code this morning which I trust will work. Unfortunately it came too late unless I can find a reason to buy yet another SSD

I received one this morning as well. Phone orders only, although free phone numbers and only valid on one item but its good of crucial to do this compared to some companies that would pull it and leave you in the dark.

Dare I say I got a mail with a code earlier today as well? Seems kind of superfluous.

As it stands I'm a bit peeved that my odds at winning a new SSD seem to have been significantly lowered by the sudden influx of people unrelated to HEXUS. Shame on them!
