Just awaiting on the southpark creators to pen "volume 568 of the tomes of wikipedia....." the sequal to the book of mormon..
Why do this?
Thought the whole point of Wikipedia was that it was easily accessible and update - something not the case with the number of paper volumes you'd need for it.
I don't think the idea is to publish it, more to make one physical copy to give an idea of the depth of Wikipedia.
The whole Amazon rainforest will be gone if wikipedia is published into a hard copy.
Just get 2400 reems of plain paper (500 sheets per reem * 2400 = 1.2mil) seem stupid to actually print the full wiki.
The reems are already produced and can be returned/resold/auctioned but nothing is really wasted.
Just the reems alone would weigh about 6720kg!
Ironically, the wikipedia book will be printed on paper made from trees, but will include an article titled "Tree-free paper"
Worst idea in the world!
I actually quite like the idea. Plus, in the tree-less post apocalyptic future, it will give an idea on how we life and provide techological advancement to the crab people.
I just can't help but think about:

If the Earth is a sphere how do you travel to the ends of it?
meh screw the rainforest.
