I do love steam! More sales and more games I'll never play (or probably never more than once anyway!). Sorry wallet...

As if we didn't get enough sales already.

I think this will be bad for the big Steam sales as the games makers will likely stop Steam from putting prices as low as previous sales.

Re: News - Valve to allow developers to create their own sales, discounts

I think this has a potential negative - instead of devs lowering their prices after a while, they may just try and put the game on "permanent sale", so it always pops up in the Specials list, etc.

It may be immoral, in some places it may be illegal, but you can bet someone's going to try it.

Darn it, looks like I'm going to have to figure out how to use Steam's "backup" feature. Either that or move my Steam directory from SSD back to HDD.

they cant do this, valve is smarter than this, read the article once more, max discount limit is 2 weeks and they sure going to put time buffer before setting a new sale on the same title.

I think you may be on to something here. On the other hand, maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised.

You can have multiple directories for your games on Steam, so you don't need to pick just one - I had the same problem with SSD space and now only keep the games I play regularly on it and benefit from the speed, with "smaller" indie games on my HDD.

Got any links on how to set that up - I could do with moving some of the pre-2012 titles to somewhere else?
