Just upgraded to i3 Haswell and GTX750ti so unlikely to make any significant changes for at least 18 months. Might eventually bite at next gen socket 1150 chips to get more oomph at low TDP. Realistically next big buy is likely to be a better than 1920x1200 monitor once prices for higher res come down a bit, but will have to be at 16x10 rather than horrible common 16x9.

Products using mainstream (or lower) priced stacked-RAM definately would be interesting.

Also in terms of entertainment software (games) software need to catch up. things like AI especially

I'm waiting for Broadwell and high-end Maxwell. Even though it looks like they're pushing a lot of Maxwell's features to later architectures, I think it'll be ideal for my needs. For Broadwell, I'm probably going to grab the cheapest quad-core with Hyper-Threading CPU available. I'm running a Pentium Dual-Core E5200 w/GTX 460, so I'm long overdue for an upgrade.

Likely only if AMD release a high end FX chip even if its on a new chipset, ram and board setup as am3+ really needs to be replaced with something more modern. 4K can wait im happy with 1440p.

Definitely 4K for me. I was thinking of holding off until 4K becomes more engrained, but if I held off buying a new machine for every new technology I would never actually buy one.

Upgrading my machine this week, but I'll probably touch it up again in a couple of years.

One technology which I find interesting is RRAM and other Flash/DRAM alternatives. When these arrive and get low cost and good enough, that would certainly warrant changing some hardware, but it will likely take some time.

If AMD ever comes with an AM3+ CPU which significantly outclasses the Phenom II X6 I have now, I might buy it.

With all the advancements out there now and coming in the next 1-2 years and I see multiple posts saying DDR4.....what exactly to people think DDR4 will give them?

For me it's a VR solution for my racing seat that does not make me sick and ideally will be a standard allowing use on multiple systems.......I may be waiting a while.

4K, but I already have upgraded in preparation.

Beyond that... I have absolutely no idea. Aside from 4K I was very happy with my setup.

Excavator. Kaveri currently ticks all the boxes for me. If Excavator works on my FM2+ board then I'll upgrade.

Realistically though it's software that's the main reason for my PC upgrades

Re: Features - QOTW: Which upcoming tech will persuade you to upgrade your PC?

I'll change my PC either when something dies, or when it needs upgrading to adequately do something I need to do. And right now, I can't see anything that would tempt me ... other than perhaps up'ing the current 4GB of DDR2, if some comes along at the right price. But as I'm not desperate, the right opportunity pretty much has to knock on my door.

Re: Features - QOTW: Which upcoming tech will persuade you to upgrade your PC?

DX12 graphics cards. The rest of my PC is fast enough for everything I need on it. I might be tempted to upgrade again in 3-4 years, by which time DDR4 should be fully entrenched and AMD might have realised it needs to have high-end desktop processors again.

14nm cpu and of course cheaper high speed ddrIII + some faster bluray writers (24x)
un not last but not least 5k support for ultrawide in integrated video with passive cooling
