    Thank god I read about v29 and australis before being prompted to 'upgrade'. I'll stick with v28 until all this rubbish shakes its self out.

    Disabled the new tab page when the feature was first introduced because I prefer blank vs the noise of previous browsing habits. Presumably this same page is the intended location for ads and for my config it will remain blank. If not I will seek a new block or configuration to disable the ads.

    Enter about:config in the browser's address bar to load the advanced preferences listing
    Filter for browser.newtabpage.enabled and double-click the entry to change its value to false. This disables the new tab page and displays a blank page instead.
