It is also thought that it will be able to surpass 5GHz using air cooling.

price? if it's way more expensive than the usual K version I don't know if it will be worth it for me at least.

Will these really be better than the current 70k chips after any price difference, most will have the cooling replaced by third parties and overclocked anyway.

If this is the enthusiast's choise I doubt someone will be unhappy. If they really have addressed the overclockability and in general the downward tendency of the 22nm tri gate process after Sandy Bridge.
Re: News - Intel Devil's Canyon i7 will be its first off-the-shelf 4GHz processor
Is this the first time a K variant has a different TDP compared to the non-K variant? 4790K and 4690K are 88W compared to 84W for the 4790 and 4690 (last year's 4770 and 4670 Haswell's were also 84W).
With "Devil's Canyon" Intel seem to be trying to get more cash out of the gamers and overclockers who're not willing to spend the extra on the higher-end E motherboards and CPUs.

Honestly, more interest in the special edition Pentium. Is there much info known about it ?
Devils Canyon is just a recyling of Haswell. We shout at Nvidia and AMD when they do it, but applaud Intel. They have slightly tweaked the design and unbroken a product that they themselves broke. Pah.

The Microsoft school of marketing?

Haswell-E is *very* different internally from Haswell, I'd be surprised if they had the same TDP

It's not a recycling of Haswell. It is Haswell.
If they'd done what the GPU guys do and released it as the i7 5790K then we'd be annoyed. They've called it the i7 4790K, that's fairly obviously the same architecture as the i7 4770K, so no attempt at deception there.
Re: News - Intel Devil's Canyon i7 will be its first off-the-shelf 4GHz processor
It's a step in the right direction - they needed to work on the packing materials. People have moaned about the fact it's paste on Ivy and Haswell, not the traditional solder, and blamed Intel for cheaping out, even though it only saves a few pennies tops.
The actual reason was that the dies were too small to solder neatly, so paste was easier. Re-engineering the solder so it works again is something that'd have to happen eventually, and it being used to squeeze an extra year from Haswell will hopefully mean a better Broadwell.
Re: News - Intel Devil's Canyon i7 will be its first off-the-shelf 4GHz processor
Providing the price is around the same as the current 4770k then I will be picking up the 4790k in a month or two for my new build. I really couldn't have picked a better time to start putting together and buying bits for a new machine !

...unless you wait 6 months and get a Broadwell system! :p

Well yeah that's true (as long as there are no more delays)but will Broadwell get a chipset refresh too ? e.g Z107

Broadwell will work on the Z97. Whether they'll have refreshed the chipset by then anyway I don't know.

Valid points but I don't hear people on here calling it Haswell, just look at the title! I just think there is a lot of whooshing motions being made about this re-release of a current product.
Whilst it will be nice further down the product stack for the small bumps in Mhz I fear Intel may just charge the difference. At the other end with the K products they are just righting a wrong they did to everyone, which may bay be commendable if it was for how long this fix has been coming.
I think I've just become very pessimistic about ANY company advertisement :p
