This isn't a consumer device. Its more ultrabook than tablet. Thats why they are comparing it to the Macbook pro. The device is a ultrabook that is also a tablet, with the benefit for the creative/pro types that want to use the light mobility with a tablet/touch screen + pen.

In otherwords its a better tablet than the Macbook Pro, and its a better ultrabook than the Ipad Air.

Oh yes. I want a powerful tablet (not a laptop), which I can install Steam, and my games on. Stunning piece of tech.

Definitely not. It has none of the gaming ability I'd want from a laptop and too much clunk to be a useful tablet.

I'd much rather have a cheaper and lighter Android tablet, thank you very much.

As usual with Surface Pro: no, I will not spend that much on a tablet.

Ditto, and £260 extra to go from 128GB core i5 to 256GB is a ripoff IMO.
However, if I don't find a 13" laptop I like more by August I'll be picking the 128GB version up from John Lewis.

This thing is far too powerful for your typical tablet usage even though it can be used as one. If I bought one, I would use it as I do my laptop for work or research.... With the flexibility of using it casually as a tablet on the side.... Not the other way around.

MS Office on the ipad can't compete with this functionally and don't even get me started on the android market.

MS need to clearly market this towards their target market in their campaign as just from this thread alone, their message isn't coming through clearly enough.

This tablet is definitely not for your typical Nexus/Galaxy/ipad user so shouldn't be judged against those.
    I concur.
For me, it'd be a three in one. Wake up, tablet, home office or get to work then it's my PC once in a dock, then whilst on the go can be a laptop.

I don't think Haswell takes power consumption low enough for this form factor and will wait to see what difference Broadwell will make to the temperatures and battery life. New CPUs will be available Oct/Nov from what I read. Dell seem to have a better idea with the Venue 11 which is more serviceable and practical due to removable battery.

I think I'll wait for more details on the Surface Mini as I feel its form factor and possibly retina quality display is more suited to my needs: reading, note taking and web browsing.

I'd love to, but I think I'm going to wait to see what Microsoft brings next year with a 4th gen Surface device & next version of Windows. I currently own an RT and I really don't have a reason to upgrade just yet. As for the SP3, the price is a bit steep, but until the TypeCover is included, the current price points are just outrageous.
