It's dubbed the tablet that can replace your laptop. Are you convinced?

    No, definitely not.
I don't want the crappy Windows 'experience' on my tablet as well. I hate Windows 8, and I hate Windows period. Microsoft would have to create a KILLER OS for me to buy something like that

Nope. It's interesting, but it's too expensive, and you lose a lot from putting a laptop into a 9mm wide case, so you can't get the benefits of a full sized laptop (and certainly not a desktop), but you don't get the cost advantage of a dedicated tablet.

For mobile Office/Outlook warriors it could be very nice however.

Definate no! I already have three tablets taking up residence in my house, which include Andriod and iOS devices. They are simply couch browsers and there is no preference of device. Only preference on how much battery life they have.

Would love to but it's too expensive. I don't want to spend more than €300-350 on a tablet

I would have no issue on buying one if it wasn't for the damned 'UK tax' that MS have added on top of the US price and VAT...

I would want to see and handle one myself before even considering buying one. At the prices they are though its very unlikely i will be getting one.
Give it a few months and if they are not shifting many the price will drop. If they come down by a couple of hundred quid i may then look again at them.

Re: Features - QOTW: Will you be buying Microsoft's Surface Pro 3?

It certainly looks appealing, but the price is just too high. I spend that much on gaming desktops, something I wouldnt use a laptop or tablet for. If these devices drop down to a more reasonable price then I would consider it. I'd like to experience Windows 8 in tablet form as I think it may work well (fails badly on mouse/keyboard). I don't want to spend £800 to do so however.
I do agree with Aidan tho, my tablet and phone sit near whichever device im currently using for browsing/couch surfing at convenience, or doubles as a kindle

Why would i buy a Surface when i could buy equally useful devices for less money.
Surface is the Wash & Go of the mobile market, great idea but doesn't do anything i can't do on other devices.

No, my old hp touchpad does just fine for web browsing and video play back, and that's all I use a tablet for these days.

Re: Features - QOTW: Will you be buying Microsoft's Surface Pro 3?

If the touch layer was Android and the desktop layer was Windows (I wouldn't care if they could access each other's files) I'd be tempted, as I'd truly consider it a tablet and laptop in one, but for my uses Windows Mobile just isn't developed enough for me - I think the (phone) OS itself is brilliant, but the apps are still very lacking in my opinion.

As it is, it's too small to be a truly usable laptop and as a tablet it's ludicrously overpriced. Its user base is too focussed - to be successful, it needs a massive drop in price while maintaining plenty of performance in a desktop scenario. I can't see it ever working long-term.

Probably yes, but not until end of Summer when I start uni. Looks like the perfect machine for taking notes with..

I'm considering one as the i3 version is just over £600 from MS, once it makes it to resellers it will start dropping a bit more.

    I think it looks ace

Absolutely. The bigger screen, new kickstand and the pen really make me want it.

Re: Features - QOTW: Will you be buying Microsoft's Surface Pro 3?

Reading through the comments so far... I'm thinking a lot of the Hexus community aren't the target market.

This thing is far too powerful for your typical tablet usage even though it can be used as one. If I bought one, I would use it as I do my laptop for work or research.... With the flexibility of using it casually as a tablet on the side.... Not the other way around.

MS Office on the ipad can't compete with this functionally and don't even get me started on the android market.

MS need to clearly market this towards their target market in their campaign as just from this thread alone, their message isn't coming through clearly enough.

This tablet is definitely not for your typical Nexus/Galaxy/ipad user so shouldn't be judged against those.
