Colour me dubious on this one - no mention of any kind of specs other than this video. No details on the team doing it. I think this is vapourware.
To kind of back Hexus, other websites, like DigitalDownloaded have also been general favourable and not critical. There's also some doubts about the video itself - it claims to be an E3 video, but opinion is divided whether it was actually shown at the show, or just launched to coincide with the show dates. Majority seem to be of the latter opinion.
Like you, I'd be a LOT more impressed with even a LITTLE more detail. Heck, they should be able to say if this is going to be x86 at least, which would seem like a pretty sure bet.
I'll file this in the "blue sky" pile along with iTunes for Android
(Interesting aside, I couldn't reply to Jenny_Y8S comment from the usual forums link - it was showing as no comments. But the comments section of the article WAS showing the comment)
This would be awesome if it did happen though.Still not sure how well PC dedicated games will work with a controller
As far as I can tell all of the headline (/AAA) titles will work with a controller, now whether they'll work with this controller is another matter. Assuming, of course, that Steamboy itself isn't just a puff of "hot air".
It's one of those situations where the oft-complained about conversion of console titles to PC actually works for you. I tried playing that latest Wolfenstein with an XBox style controller and it's not good; Bioshock was actually okay; and Saints Row IV was definitely better with a controller, (likewise JC2 by the way - great with a controller, not so good with mouseboard).

Oh if this turns out to be true (and good)- TAKE MY MONEY!!

I too would have liked to see a bit more in the way of "comment" but, the point I was trying to make, was that given the lack of information there's not really a lot you CAN criticise. I mean it's not as if you can slag off the price, the spec, the experience of the development team or the availability - because none of those are given.
So anyway, the colour of the Steamboy - good or bad in your opinion?
Should Hexus cover this kind of thing? Difficult to say, because if it does come off (which I doubt) then it could be significant. Maybe that's all you're looking for - not necessarily the "gold standard of truth" but just some comment. Personally I think this whole Steamboy thing is nothing but a very cynical attempt to get some PR on the back of SteamOS and Steambox, and the "product" itself will turn out to have all the solidity of Scotch Mist.
What I'd like to know though is why, despite trying three separate web browsers, the only way I can see your (Jenny_Y8S) postings is on the article itself. So when I use the forum view it's confusing to see replies where the original posting is invisible. Have you done something to upset the forum moderators or webmaster?
Whether this is real or not. Is anyone else concerned that Valve/Steam could potentially be holding back pc gaming advancements, like consoles do?
I like the idea of the Steambox. Well, not for myself. I wouldn't buy one. But it's good for people who want to get into pc games, but are overwhelmed by the prospect of building their own rig. But on the other hand, we could see devs designing their games around these Steam "console like" pc's. That could mean we get held back even more. As a lot of people who buy these Steambox things will probably not upgrade them. And how often will they release a new Steambox? They can't do it too often. It will have to be more similar to console life cycles. I mean, they could get away with releasing a new one every 4-5 years maybe. But still, that could hold us back.
But then maybe this will equal better optimisation for pc games in the end. And see things like "Mantle" really take off. Who knows eh?
