I predict paper launch in Q4, actual products to customers Q2 2015.

There isn't a rumour so that means they have no answer?

    AMD will have something.

Q2 next year suits me, might even have saved up enough pennies to be able to afford one by then!

Can't see why, NVidia do the 800 series, so AMD launch something new themselves (R10 anyone?). Article does say that smaller die = better thermals, so maybe even just faster R9's would be good enough. Remember that NVidia and AMD always seem to be in this tick-tock setup - first one is market leader then the other. Just wish it was this way with AMD and Intel... sigh

I always see it as a game of cards, they are reluctant to be the first one to show theirs, so the opponent know what they are up against.

At the same time there is logic to say its better to be first to market as there is more time to make sales.

If its cheaper than the 780 (which no way can happen) I'll buy it or the R9 380X or 390X (coming in the next year or Q4)

I remember reading some comment - don't know how true this is - that neither AMD nor NVidia have made a truly awful card/chipset in a long time. So if there's no real "bad" graphics cards these days, there's only one's that aren't as good value as another, or don't live up to our (unrealistic?) expectations.

I've been an NVidia loyalist up until this year, before "defecting" to a 7970. New card is taking more power and is definitely louder than the previous NVidia ones, but still performs pretty nicely.

As I see it, NVidia is better at signing up titles/developers to support their unique features, but AMD gives you a better software bundle. Nice to be that spoilt for choice! So like some here, I'll be looking closely at what AMD have when the 870 starts shipping.

I try and avoid stock cooling from both companies, I don't like loud. Again, I think they are both much the same here.

Lets not forget AMD Mantle too. How far are AMD from moving on to 20nm at least for their GPUs?

Probably the same about of time as Nvidia, though traditionally Nvidia will mess it up and blame TSMC for making bad silicon

It appears that TSMC won't be making any 20nm GPUs until next year.
Aww...I was really looking forward to this. Article title got me excited, only to find out it's still expected for 2015. Guess this means I'll continue holding out to watch AMD's and Nvidia's come then.

What is there to remember even...? Nothing mentions Mantle here :s

Anyways, if the usual cycle continues, I would bet AMD would shoot for 2015 Q1 and Nvidia Q2-3 maybe. If Nvidia releases the 800s and follows up with a revision very quickly, it'll only make consumers very upset; I honestly think they should just wait.

At 28nm I don't see why they'd have issues - they certainly launched the 750 better than AMD launched the R7 265, even now there's still only two models of that card on scan (and one of them's out of stock)

Better get some eyes on Hewlett Packard - god knows what they are about to throw into the market... They are like that quiet ginger step child that's been away for a decade and now coming back with something faster than a quantum monolith.

Or did everyone miss that tiny bit of news from them? - I do hope it's all true... because everyone else would be in deep doo-doo.

When are rumours ever correct? 8gb is a big jump from 3gb, although maybe competition from the consoles has caused this? Anyway, hopefully we start seeing graphics cards better at handling 4K.
