Had the email shot for these earlier.....and was thinking "Hmmm, these used to be the holy grail, now they are almost redundant"
It's a shame that as mid-range GPUs have gotten cool and powerful enough to have a decent passive card, APUs have risen and low noise cooling solutions seem to be the norm.

Also, to add to this, the cooler on this appears to be super tall, so any potential small and quiet form factor pc cases will have to be considered at great length.
Either way, interesting product. I wonder how cool it will be able to stay.

I think it's aimed at htpc, AV type builds

They always point the fins the wrong way on passive cards, they need to run along the card for optimal airflow if you have a front mounted fan.
I would prefer a card with an adaptive fan that switches on and off when needed.

Yea, that has always struck me as being odd, i just thought it was something to do with the way the heatpipes are orientated.

Isn't that something Asus or someone does ? I seem to remember reading about some company doing a card that only switches on the fan when X load, or temp is reached.

Yes its the ASUS Strix

Most GPUs will spin down to almost inaudible these days....ironically nVidia cards tend to be quieter at low power operation....maybe palit should look at releasing some AMD cards, they would get more mileage from passive versions.
Re: News - Palit releases passively cooled Nvidia GeForce GTX 750(Ti) cards
I remember the Gigabyte HD4850 passive edition. It needed a fan to keep it cool!
Don't expect anything different here either

These KalmX cards are built without the extra power connector enthusiast versions are equipped with, of course.
I though the whole draw of the 750ti and 750 were that they sat within the bus power spec for PCI-E. Unless you were nuts enough to try and sell an 'overclockers' version of a low-mid range budget card, there's no reason to stick an extra power socket on there in the first place.
Re: News - Palit releases passively cooled Nvidia GeForce GTX 750(Ti) cards
The Asus GTX750 Ti came with a PCI-E power connector AFAIK, can't remember why, something about stable power?
Re: News - Palit releases passively cooled Nvidia GeForce GTX 750(Ti) cards
Hmm. Time to change card brand. Not being 100 percent passively cooled is driving me nuts with the noise. 750ti is great card too.

Me too, on a hot day this card would throttle itself as it has no other way of cooling itself quickly.

The Palit website features more pictures (and a spec table) confirming that it is in fact dual-slot.

In regards to the orientation of the fins, I imagine it's to better work with side-panel holes/fans on a tower which equates to the top ventilation holes on a desktop/htpc.
If you go totally fanless this configuration should cool the card better by convection, though the degree of improvement may only be marginal if you don't have a side-panel opening.
If you have a side-panel fanel blowing directly on the GPU, this orientation of the fins is better.
