    Two things.

    The Z2 had a 2k display ?!
And what is a 28GB SD card? Is it just a binned 32 GB

Interesting phone. And I do like the sound of 2 days without the phone being 5.7inches big. I'll have to wait to see real life scenarios first though.

Hmmm. Looks nice but having experienced Sony's complete lack of support for the original Z my wife has I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. (Its had a battery drain issue since a 4.4 upgrade was released a few months ago - No fix - just vague mention of a Google play issue and a suggestion to turn off various 'features'...)

According to GSam Pro, my LG G3 (which is .2" smaller than your 5.7" benchmark) gets "3d 4h (13h 18m Active)" as an "average per complete charge". Not necessarily recommending the G3, just saying that 2 days is doable with stock stuff that's on the market already.

I really want to like the Sony Xperia's and will once they get away from the "plastic slab" school of design. Z3 Compact could do well though with the right marketing push.

Call me old-fashioned, but when it comes to smartphones "compact" and "4.7 inches" do NOT belong in the same sentence!

My idea of compact is iPhone. I remember when the first note came out and that was 5.3! Seemed huuuuuge. Now 5.7 is seen as the norm?

Re: News - Sony launches Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and more

For compact phones, the iPhone 5S is still the hardware benchmark. I might not like iOS, but there's no denying the speed and portability of the device - it's a work of art and engineering.

Apple would be best keeping a product in the size, and a larger one to cater for more demandng users. Being the only manufacturer of truly portable high end phones still in the business I hope they don't abandon it based on market research grounds.

Getting back to Sony's offerings, the phones look nice, but the tablet is where I'm more interested. Thanks to Sony for continuing to push the boundaries of weight. 8" and 270g...wow, the Nexus 2013 is 7" and 292g, the iPad mini w/ retina 8" and 330g. This is a great size to weight ratio they've achieved. Shouldn't be long before we see sub 250g 8" tablets, maybe next year.

That's screensize. The phone is smaller than the previous Z1 compact.

I'm very much looking forward to getting the Z3 phone and maybe the "smart band" depending on reviews, the phone is a big step up from my HTC Trophy 7 , might have to try the remote play for my PS4 at some point a decent feature imo.

I could be wrong but having at least one dimension be lesser and the other dimensions the same or lesser pretty much fits the definition of 'smaller'

edit: ah boo - battery life for talk and video is quoted as smaller for the Z3c than the Z1c

Compared the the current crop of smarties - which are 5" upwards - 4.7" surely does count as "compact" in comparison. Says the guy with the 5.5" LG G3.

Me too - although I've got to wonder that if that's the Z3 Compact Tablet, is there going to be a non-compact version? If so, then count me in as interested. I'll be looking for a replacement for my Note 10.1 in a couple of months and at the moment the leading contender is an NVidia Shield - mainly because I want portable gaming and Samsung's weird setups are really starting to bug me.

Re: News - Sony launches Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and more

Guess I'll be getting the Z1 compact then, this doesn't offer anything that makes it worth waiting for. Recently broke my Moto G and am missing Android apps now, mostly Google Authenticator to be honest.

I was hoping for an announcement soon, thankfully this is out now and shows the battery life won't be as good as the Z1 Compact; the increased screen size is probably to blame to be honest, something I prefer to be smaller anyway.
