Why bigger screen?!?! Moreover, tiny battery considering the specs :(
Re: News - 5.2-inch Moto X and 5-inch Moto G sequels announced at IFA
That\'s deeply disappointing. I would have much much preferred a RAM bump than anything else so tabbed web browsing would be tolerable. Except maybe the front facing stereo speakers... dems awesome, everyone should be doing that. But they really shouldn\'t have stretched the display, at least not without bumping the resolution along with it to retain the same pixel density.
Re: News - 5.2-inch Moto X and 5-inch Moto G sequels announced at IFA
Yeah, a let down for me too :(
Re: News - 5.2-inch Moto X and 5-inch Moto G sequels announced at IFA
Yeah, same sized battery as my Moto G which has the original 4.5" screen - that is a little surprising. Although, my phone lasts two to three days between charges, so it isn\'t a critical oversight.
Re: News - 5.2-inch Moto X and 5-inch Moto G sequels announced at IFA
Oooh..thats good timing, I was finally going to go and get a Moto G next week, the updated ones with SD cad slot.
Sigh...just realised, probably going to have to wait a few weeks now until stock of this updated, updated model becomes plentiful.
Re: News - 5.2-inch Moto X and 5-inch Moto G sequels announced at IFA
SD slot is a good addition, everything else seems pretty underwhelming. Budget phones really don\'t need 5" screens!
Re: News - 5.2-inch Moto X and 5-inch Moto G sequels announced at IFA
Just had a look on Amazon, its not listed at 145 and it doesn\'t look the same spec....
Re: News - 5.2-inch Moto X and 5-inch Moto G sequels announced at IFA
Moto G becoming a phablet is a real downer. Not many smartphones now have screens of 4.5" or below. All they had to do to the G is give it a Snapdragon 410 and make the battery user replaceable.
Oh well. Anyone know of any exercises that can make your hands bigger for this new wave of tech?

The snapdragon 400 is still decent enough imo, a bump in RAM would have made a massive difference for interactive performance in a way a 410 couldn't. Even if it was just an extra 512MB.
Re: News - 5.2-inch Moto X and 5-inch Moto G sequels announced at IFA
It's the increase in screen size too. Just why?!

Android is pretty aggressive with memory management and no matter how much it has, it keeps trying to close things in the background. I sometimes wonder if Android actually supports multitasking. More RAM will be nice but not sure if it will speed things up much
The 410 is a massive improvemet over the 400. A53 cores with ARMv8 will make a noticable improvement once L comes out.

There is a bit YouTube vid of a dude replacing the battery. You need take the entre thing to pieces but looks doable. Maybe only worth it when the warranty has expired.
I'm happ with the performance on me G rev.1. WiFi is my biggest gripe.
Re: News - 5.2-inch Moto X and 5-inch Moto G sequels announced at IFA
I was thinking of getting the Moto X when I was getting my new phone, but the performance was so close to the Moto G and for an extra £15 a month? Really?
Now, I'm reconsidering for the X+1, or X2, or whatever Motorola is gonna call it.
Re: News - 5.2-inch Moto X and 5-inch Moto G sequels announced at IFA
Had this phone have had a 2800 mAh battery, I'd have pre ordered it. Now, I'm going to have to look elsewhere. The 801 isn't efficient enough to give me a whole day use (my college has super thick walls in the basement where I spend most of my time - the science department. Battery drain is terrible as awful signal).

Finding a genuine battery is nigh on impossible or not cost effective. Moto won't release their batteries into the retail channel. After market batteries will be hard to find also as it will be a very small market.
User replaceable batteries are not just a tick box. There a quite a few cons to sealed batteries and none of the supposed pros make up for it.
