Re: Features - QOTW: Do you upload photos to the cloud?
Never use it and its just full of Backdoors If you have half a brain you can get into the accounts
and see all
That's why it gets all the promotion from the likes of Microsoft, even win8 they try to push it as some great thing, its just a room full of computers, I can save my own data thanks on an external drive which is 100% more secure.
N.S.A. and G.C.H.Q. use it to collect your data they are the only Gov.: bodies that like to listen????????????? To You
Re: Features - QOTW: Do you upload photos to the cloud?
Pics from my phone/tablet go to DropBox and I have no problems with that because they're off little to no importance. I often use it as a quick and dirty way of scanning things rather than mess about with my actual scanner.
I don't do nekkid pics but if I did, I'm too old, male and non-famous to worry about them being hacked.

Ah, true, but I bet you all those celebs thought iCloud was a kind of locker - perhaps even safer than email. Their issue was never really "Where can I keep my sexy photos?" so much as "What's the best way to send a sexy picture to one particular person who, by definition, is a distance away right now?". Some reports indicated that at least some of the people affected didn't realise their photos were still in iCloud, possibly thinking that once deleted on the phone, they had also gone from the cloud. For such a dangerous service that's so reliant on understanding it, it's weird of Apple in particular to not have set up a guided service that helps the user at every turn. I think it's perfectly understandable for people doing jobs that keep them apart from their partners to want to send nudes, and while we're all talking about the pitfalls of the cloud as it is, if it was set up in a different way then it could be the perfect delivery system.
I can only imagine one better solution to the distance/security problem: Noodzwolf. Noodzwolf would run to your door across any terrain, trained to find you and only you with unerring accuracy. Noodzwolf will transfix you with his stare, at once terrifying and yet drawing you closer. Mere inches separate your face from the face of Noodzwolf. Your eyeballs tremble in time with the rumble of Noodzwolf's lungs. It is time for nudez.
Through sheer force of psychic ability, Noodzwolf beams a dizzying array of nudity into your face. It is at once terrible and awe-inspiring. For a split second, you consider wearing Google Glass for the wolf's next visit, and suddenly the images change to a looping prediction of Noodzwolf eating your kidneys. The images fade. Noodzwolf bows briefly before turning and silently loping away. "Be safe, Noodzwolf," you whisper, for surely he has many enemies in the plains and in the mountains: the mercenaries, the snipers, los bandidos. Noodzwolf would not be easy to kill, but no matter. Noodzwolf would be useless to them dead: extinguish the light, extinguish the noodz. If captured, Noodzwolf would not -- could not -- give up those telepathic secrets. Noodzwolf: truly nature's most noble creature.
Imagine that: being Jennifer Lawrence's boyfriend, and getting regular visits from the Noodzwolf. It must be ****ing awesome.
Re: Features - QOTW: Do you upload photos to the cloud?
No - I consider anything stored in the 'cloud' to be public and accessible even if it is 'deleted'. I only use my onedrive for the most mundane and non-sensitive items which I need to access on the move. I still have issues with email too as it's not totally secure. Having been the victim of identity theft (most likely due to some accessing credit card details) I try to ensure I have a very small internet footprint.
If I want to store something worthwhile then I do it locally to removable hardware.
If people are such a narcissists that they have to take 'selfies' and nude 'selfies' then I have no sympathy for them.
Re: Features - QOTW: Do you upload photos to the cloud?
Nope. Nor do I repeatedly take pictures of my privates. Not repeatedly anyway :)
Removable fobs work for me too - if I don't really need it then why have it floating about where you don't have complete control over it if it's something you don't want others to see. Mind you I wouldn't be bothered pictures of my bits ended up online TBH.
The thing is we all know that at some point just about everything online will be hacked or passwords worked out - online security starts with deciding what you want to put where out there in the ether.

Re: Features - QOTW: Do you upload photos to the cloud?
Whatever happened to PGP?
Re: Features - QOTW: Do you upload photos to the cloud?
My photos, no. Random stuff for forum posts yes. Eg.

Re: Features - QOTW: Do you upload photos to the cloud?
Nope. I'd rather just keep the photos on my computer.
Re: Features - QOTW: Do you upload photos to the cloud?
yes because what has been uploaded has no value to myself or anybody gaining unauthorised access to my account.

For me, that could be the only reason I could see in using it TBH if any at all.
Re: Features - QOTW: Do you upload photos to the cloud?
Of course; because I'm not a paranoid idiot.
Re: Features - QOTW: Do you upload photos to the cloud?
Nope, there's no benefit for me to have my photos backed up online. I'm not entirely against using online backups but tend to store digital purchases there rather than anything personal.
That said the second best security technique after "just don't upload it" is to not have anything anyone wants
Re: Features - QOTW: Do you upload photos to the cloud?
I think the real question is whether any of us are actually in the public eye, which I presume none of us are.
If I were in the public eye it would be a complete no-no to upload anything anywhere that I didn't want to be seen because you can be damned sure someone would try and get at it.

Or maybe like these celebrities you are ignorant of the possible risks.
