GTX 970 will outsold faster than the 980 at that price, I should have waited for the 970 instead of buying the 280X.

That is a sweet price for a 970, not sure how UK prices will compare.

Why do they always picture these things from the underside?

Yes, it has fans. I kinda guessed it would, since every GPU has them.
But why not picture it from the front and top, since that's what most owners will see when it's installed?

I'm guessing because these are the vendors advertising their design of the card, and want to show off their cooler design versus other vendors.

Surely that is a total unknown? Without reviews and benchmarks there is absolutely no way of telling whether this is good or bad value whatsoever.

if thats true, i wont repeat the same mistake when i got my first GTX 770, better to wait for couple of months until nvidia slashes 100$ from the price since you can get R9 290 for much lower and get better performance.

Because that's where 90% of the exterior design budget is used. I'd rather see them use the money on shrinking the card by 1-2mm in thickness, making it better for SLI, there's always plenty of dead space under the shroud which they could probably utilise.

Looks like I might as well hold off upgrading for a little while longer and wait for news of a 980 Ti. Glad these weren't revealed a week or 2 later

I don't understand why these non reference cards are being shown so early when nVidia has a 4 month waiting period after the release of their reference designs. We are going to have to wait till next year this time to get these cards.

Maybe the maxwell architecture enhanced the performance of the PC cards so much that nVidia decided to name it as 900 series.

Sweet price $450 for a GTX970? Are you a NVidia shill? You can buy an i5 4690k, 2x8GB DDR3 and a Z97 pro4 for $450.

The GTX970 is a mid-range $250 card with a high end $450 price. It's a $450 card that can't run games in 4K without buying two of them.

They're probably going to launch the real high end card 5 months after this one, for $1000000. :)
