Is it just me or does the red/white gun in the first image in the article look very much like an M1 Garand.

Game looks like it's shaping up nicely - hopefully they won't fall into the trap of forcing the player to adopt a particular style. I hate games that force you to go "stealth" when all you want to do is stomp in like a tank division and go "loud and nasty".

Although at the moment I'm working through Assassin's Creed: Black Flag and am doing it pretty sloppily/brutally.

Will be buying this 'fo sure!

I'm particularly looking forward to this on co-op...it should be amazing! :)

Could have at least used a Black american to do the narration rather than some Nigerian whose pronounication is awful!


I played the demo at EGX and you can play with a sniper rifle and a crossbow too.

Doubtful, Far Cry 3 let you go at your own rate. Me personally I turned on a trainer with infinite ammo, rapid fire, and all weapons unlocked - ran through the entire game with a rapid fire bazooka, cackling like a mad man.

Hopes are high...

Where's my fave bow?

Glad you decided to give Black Flag a chance! Thoughts so far? I'm on Wasteland 2 now but can't decide whether or not I'd recommend this one.

Thanks for asking.
First scene in BF is onboard a ship under fire with little apparent control and only scant hints what's required. So I ended up getting killed very quickly. Strangely when the game level restarted I could control the level and there were more hints what was being asked for. This kind of thing really puts me off and wasn't an auspicious start.

After that things looked up, with a blessed return to the free flowing parkour that I liked/remembered from the pre-US AC games. Character development is very good and there's a logic about what happens, with very little in the way of "walking grind" (that horrible thing in the US AC where you seemed to have to spend hours getting from place to place). AI is also much better than the US AC - I was able to murder a roof guard then use his body as a distraction for the others, throwing it off the roof gathered his two colleagues in a perfect alignment for a double roof assassination... sweet.

Unfortunately, I've not had enough time to spend on BF to get to the point where I've actually got a ship of my own, and at the moment I'm more interested in levelling up the weapons - especially want to get some throwing knives (my second favourite weapon in the old AC's). And I even spotted that "patch of straw" on the roofs that show a possible dive point into cover - something I remember from AC2/3, so perhaps one for the fans.

The non-pirate-based activities, (the "real life" stuff), is also something I've not delved into that much, but even there it seems to make a good deal of sense. Although I've got to wonder how much of "Abstergo Entertainment" is based on Ubi's own offices!

So if the Ezio-based AC's were rated 8-9/10 and the Connor one at 2-3/10 then BF I'd vote for 6-7 at the moment and I expect to raise that rating once I get more deeply into the game.

Ahh well you'll love the naval stuff! There's a fairly large game world to explore and you'll spend a while waiting for your ship to get places, but you'll have the option of fast travel (ctrl if I remember correctly) for previously visited settlements.

The 'real world' stuff is pretty cool in places, though I skipped all the optional hacking. Prefer pirates :-D Clothes-wise, most outfits are just for aesthetic appeal (which many lack) but there is one outfit that makes you harder to spot by animals, so that's worth keeping an eye out for (though it does not look good - whaler outfit is good for proper pirate-ish looks).

Gameplay looks like it could be an upgrade but the characters shown so far seem a bit dull in comparison to 3

I went to EGX too and was it just me or were the staff manning the triple A game upstairs all completely useless when it came to techinical questions compared to those downstairs like elite dangerous or even Cd Prejekt Red that were upstairs to.

Whenever I asked them a question about PC they just pointed at another guy and said 'ask him, he might know'

Not as excited for this as i was far cry 3

oh the irony of someone criticizing the narrator for their awful accent when they are unable to spell pronunciation ;-)
