That is absolutely disgusting.
780Ti was $699
980Ti was $649
1080Ti was (supposed to be) $699. More like $700-800
I thought they'd do it at $899, and even that would be incredibly insulting to the consumer. But this price ? That has made me legitimately angry.
The only thing I liked about this event is that nvidia are killing off the blower style gpu coolers. The monstrously high gpu will probably mean many will be picking up pascal cards at a reduced price.
I suppose it gives them room to drop the price when vega 2 comes out
and still make a huge profit on there green army ..
there is no way in this world I'd pay that kind of money for a gpu
What does it matter now if men believe or no?

I'm sorry but those prices are a joke.... yet I know there will be people that will be jumping on them like a mad person.
So I wonder how much they're going to price gouge a titan RTX (if it ever comes out) which is supposed to be the 'semi pro' CAD card I would go for....
Well.... I actually like the look the the 2070 FE, it's the right size for my case and would be a definite upgrade from my R9 290, for roughly the same pricing as a Vega card. With better performance to boot. Plus that's about as much as I would pay for any graphics card, no way I could justify >£1000 for one (same as a particular make of phone...)
Now I'm going to wait to see what happens with Vega card pricing....
2070 for $600 I can't imagine how much the next RTX **70 card, why can't they stick to the old prices. The GTX 770 was $399 if we add inflation it is $440.
These cards might be a "leap" but its not big enough to justify 1k for a gaming card.
pre order at Scan https://www.scan.co.uk/shop/computer...idia/2778/2779
2080 - £715.99 > £1006.49
2080ti - £1049 > £1339.99
£569 to pre-order the 2070, absolutely no chance I'll be paying that. Past experience tells us the partner cards still won't be cheaper, the MSRP is just make believe. £1099 for the 2080ti and £749 for the 2080. Guess it's a PS5 for me.
My gaming days are over. That's that. I've been priced out of the market. To put this in context... I am not poor, I expect to clear over £100K after tax this year and I won't pay those prices. I spent £550 on my GTX 780 a few years ago when it was new out and utterly top of the range, now we get this. Prices which when leaked were so stupid we all thought they were placeholders by the graphic design people.... and the end result is that we all were demonstrated to be idiots as they want EVEN MORE than those prices we thought were mad / impossible.
Are these people stupid? I might even have to invest in Vega at this rate. AMD don't have to drop their prices to seem ultra competitive now.
If this is the new standard, only the rich AND stupid will invest. Given the prevalence of consoles with similar graphics, why would ANYONE bother with a PC for gaming now? Nvidia have lost it. I wouldn't buy into this after a lottery win out of principle.
The pricing is truly insane. This is what happens when they have no competition and due to the big time delay people will end up buying it as they waited so long.
I currently running 2gb 770 in SLI and I was hoping to upgrade in time for BF5 but not at those prices... I wish people would boycott them but they wont which will mean the next gen will be higher again...
Holly Sh*t, i thought they will be overpriced, but that? - That is a clear sign to buy a console...
Now, lets see the games benchmark and see how they justifying the price.
I got the 1070 before the mining craze began, I think I'll be sticking with it.
I'm not going to pay Mining craze prices for a card that should be so much cheaper, especially as they had not only the huge profits from the mining craze and they got an extra year out of pascal due to low performing competition.
RTX, Rip-off To-the Xtreme
To me, Nvidias GPU technology has plateaued, they can't push or do any more with it. So instead, they are creating a niche market that they can excel in by bringing a single focus feature that from my perspective, is tech that already existed but no one cared about. I mean come on, realtime light/shadow ray tracing is cared enough about to be done that they made an ASIC (which is basically what it is) to lock game manufacturers back into their ecosystem because it's "cool". Yeah man, we do Ray Tracing toooo!
Pfft, and not only that it is yet another proprietary tech that is going to be laced into everything because Nvidia are paying developers to do it because they can then kneecap AMD by making Ray Tracing only work good on their own GPUs (like PhysX and poopworks).
Not only that, but they have crossed the threshold of "yeah, and who the f else are you gonna buy from, you're going to buy our GPUs and you know it" type of attitude to me. Before, it was high priced for the highest performance now it is overpriced for the highest performance with the added factor of Nvidia literally taking your wallet and replacing the cash with a steaming dump.
Can you tell I am bitter?
I love that they all say "VR Ready"...yeah and what GPU in the past 4 years that is a 480/980 and above not been VR Ready?
God I hate marketing sometimes.

Addition to my rant on prices: Nvidia is truly attempting to shift how graphics are handled in games with some seriously innovative tech. The problem is we don't know whether this tech will catch on. There are some games which will support it now but unless the entire market catches on it just won't happen. You're paying for tech that is not proven and the trannies that are dedicated to the AI side of things can not be dedicated to traditional rendering methods. So, really, unless I see devs really catching on, I won't be bothering with this stuff. I'm not paying twice as much as expected for unproven tech which may or may not catch on.
This is like investing in an electric vehicle for long distances - you know it'll probably catch on but you're paying a massive early adopter premium for something that may not work unless the general infrastructure adapts to support it.
I'm going to buy a last gen card at a low price and be delighted.
