This is a wind-up, surely?
Re: News - Thousands of Hungarians stage protest against Internet Tax plans
I could only imagine that if this law passed then it wouldn't be too long before our government would instate a similar law. They've been aching to charge us for the Internet since they realised catchup tv on the Internet means less people watch it live, hence less people bother with a TV licence.
Just hope this falls flat on its face and the world forgets about it
Re: News - Thousands of Hungarians stage protest against Internet Tax plans
The protesters shouldn't accept anything other then scrapping the bill completely because once the bill has passed in any form the politicians can and will change it the way that suits them best. That's how politicians pass bills that people don't like. Go Hungarians!
Re: News - Thousands of Hungarians stage protest against Internet Tax plans
that is a crazy cost, whats next ? they charge them for breathing ?
Re: News - Thousands of Hungarians stage protest against Internet Tax plans

I hardly think a few people not buying a TV licence is of much concern to the government.

Still need a tv license to watch catch up. They even tried to make girlfriends shop get one because they might watch tv on their phones.
That looks like a right good knees up and it kind of got a result. In the uk it would of been a few hundred students with nothing better to do

Well I'm sure that's what the TV licensing man says, but it isn't true.

No, you don't. http://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/check-i...nd-online-top8
Live programmes need a license though, irrespective of whether they're on the TV or iPlayer.

You're right. Its for anything live or that you've recorded. I think they were trying it push that if you could potentially watch live tv then you needed a license. Which is complete bs of course
Re: News - Thousands of Hungarians stage protest against Internet Tax plans
The funny thing is they have already created a so called telecommunication tax 2 years ago, not to mention all internet subscriptions include VAT and you pay it with your heavily taxed income:) no complaints since the 2014 net minimal wage (169 pounds!!!) is enough for more than 400GB:D
Thank you Hungary!
Re: News - Thousands of Hungarians stage protest against Internet Tax plans
Hungarian govt has caved in to the pressure and removed the proposed tax from its budget

Now to make it a truly democratic process replace name to one of these options:
Smokers Tax
Drunks Tax
Fat people tax
People who buy condoms outside marriage tax
or the crowd favourite " I am not sure how it relates but there are paedophiles on the internet tax"
Keep the rest the same and watch it pass into law.
