Fingers crossed the Linux version will appear around about feb/march time, that is if he decides to do it in the end, can't quite remember his exact words but gave me hope that it would arrive eventually so I backed it.

Is this available to buy anywhere apart from the official store?
Was hoping for a boxed dvd copy but no where has it listed.
£35 seems a bit steep to me for a download version, but I an aware I am stingy.

Have the beta but it was buggy as hell and crashed out so often I gave up a month back since their support were useless. Will take a look again when the final version comes out. Hopefully I get something playable for my £50.

Re: News - Elite: Dangerous is set for launch on PC on 16th December

Doesn't seem very long at all to iron out some major issues but I live in hope!

They have to sort out private group issues (was unable to get 3 players onto the same server in order to play together for over an hour of trying. Gave up in the end) and enable UI scaling for multi monitor systems (with bezel compensation on the ui is cut off the sides of the main monitor).

If they fix those things before release I can see many hours of playing on it, if not it will quickly be consigned to the virtual dustbin.

Given how quickly they patch most things every time a new Beta release comes out - within mere days and sometimes even hours, instead of the months some Devs take - I think they'll have it pretty decent by the time it's released proper.

As there's nothing on the official forums about this I'm guessing, but this is likely the gamma release (aka everyone who went in at beta) prior to a retail release, unless they're *really* pushing it for Christmas (but without the publisher pressures this shouldn't really be a massive driver for them)

I stand corrected - just spotted this thread on the official forums: gamma starts 22nd November, so 16th Dec is the official retail launch.

Warlords of Draenor for a month and then Elite. Perfect timing!

I backed it fairly early, but not to a level that got beta access. Sounds like it will be money well spent though!

I backed £20 on Kickstarter for the game, so I imagine I get my steam code after the 16th December release date..

That stinks. Get this released on steam and they'll make quite a bit more than £38m.

What would be the point of having to open the Steam Client, only to open the Elite Launcher in order to launch the game?

That's like Ubisoft games on Steam!

Re: News - Elite: Dangerous is set for launch on PC on 16th December

Echoing earlier comments from folks. Day 1 of a big release tends to be a bit of a buggy mess, they hit the ground running with the patch work though, it's all fixed and working well by day 2/3 at worst.

The only bug I've noticed at the moment is "canopy critical" (I'm about to not be able to breath) continues to be shouted by the (fairly pleasant sounding, female voiced computer) at the start/end of every use of frameshift or supercruise drives

Sounds like you've got too many things drawing power at once.
I had this when I put mega-powerful weapons on and everything shut down.
Consider upgrading your power cell or some of the other kit... or have you actually had your canopy compromised (ie blown out)?
