Re: News - Upcoming AMD R9 390X Fiji and GeForce GTX 960 details leak
I have really high expectations for the new R9 390X, I want it to be an awesome card and I can't wait to see some reviews. If it comes out better than the GTX780Ti, then I will add 1 to my second PC and put the GTX780Ti I have there into my Intel rig so I can run 2xGTX780Ti in SLI as well as run a flagship AMD card in my AMD rig. lol.

Re: News - Upcoming AMD R9 390X Fiji and GeForce GTX 960 details leak
Why would they need to put that much detail on a shipping manifest?! Seems very odd to me - admittedly I have absolutely zero experience in this area, but why wouldn't it just say "computer parts" or something vague like that? My point is, are we sure this is genuine?

Re: News - Upcoming AMD R9 390X Fiji and GeForce GTX 960 details leak
Can't wait for the reviews, hopefully we will see a R9 390X with 8gb VRAM available soon after launch, than with the the 290X with 8gb VRAM which are now only starting to appear.

... I've only read one review of an 8gb 290x but wasn't it decided that it was at best a nominal difference? Especially with GNC1.2 (same as Tonga) since it has a much improved memory subsystem I think it will a
Launch with 4 and 8gb will be rare at best.

Re: News - Upcoming AMD R9 390X Fiji and GeForce GTX 960 details leak
My eyes locked on the "390X", and I thought for a minute that we were gonna get a peak at some new high end Amd Cpu's. Too bad :( Still very interested to see more specs on these new cards though :)

Re: News - Upcoming AMD R9 390X Fiji and GeForce GTX 960 details leak
Is it known whether the 390 & 390X will be on the old 28nm process? If so, it'll be interesting to see if they run as hot as the 290 & 290X...

I'd guess not. The GTX960 price translates to £160, which seems plausible, but the Radeon comes to £770, which seems... less plausible.

Re: News - Upcoming AMD R9 390X Fiji and GeForce GTX 960 details leak
EDIT: mixed the two up :(
It could be AMD think dev boards cost more, or would cost more if they had to be replaced (insurance purposes)

Re: News - Upcoming AMD R9 390X Fiji and GeForce GTX 960 details leak
Well let's hope £770 isn't correct! Although AMD have released some insanely expensive cards over the years, they need to compete with GTX900 pricing, and they know that. At least if £770 is correct, you can be sure it'll be something truly incredible to at least attempt to justify that price tag.

Re: News - Upcoming AMD R9 390X Fiji and GeForce GTX 960 details leak
Well I presume it's competing with a titan class card from nVidia, which was the same $1000 price when it was released.

Like some kind of Maxwell-based Titan II that nVIDIA hasn't launched or even announced but that AMD somehow knows about?

Well we all know that GM200 is coming. GM204 isn't the full chip.

Working for a company that ship aircraft parts, we have to put alot of detail on the shipping details for custom purposes mainly.

Re: News - Upcoming AMD R9 390X Fiji and GeForce GTX 960 details leak
Yeah it's not beyond the realm of possibility that this is infact not the 390X but rather some kind of Titan Radeon. A Titeon if you will. I'd expect to see the 390 and 390X first though, since that's where AMD more urgently need to compete. Can't imagine Titans are flying off the shelves - it's a pretty niche product compared to more gaming-oriented hardware, which is where the real sales volume will be.

20nm or 28nm for AMD this time?

Well AMD said it's not going to be shipping 20nm parts until 2015, they didn't mention what quarter though.
Also results for what is claimed to be the Fiji XT R9 390X have been published on the SiSoft Sandra database, it seems the 390X is going to feature (4096SP 64C 1GHz, 4GB 1.25GHz 4096-bit) along with 3D stacked High Bandwidth Memory.

Well there a rumour starting to go around ( must stop polishing my crystral ball) about a 4096-bit memory bus on the R9 930X, but with 4k,5k & 8k tv's & monitors being pushed in 2015, you will see 8gb, maybe even more memory on AMD cards.
You may laugh, but Nvida's new GTX Titan II is also rumoured to have 12gb of memory.

The rumour is more that it'll be using 4 stacks of HBM. This isn't going to be a 4096bit bus as you'd traditionally think of it, because it's using stacked memory with a wide bitpath per chip. The current generation tops out at 1GB per stack, and each stack has a 1024bit interface to the controller. The next gen is meant to up the memory to 2GB per stack, but for the foreseeable future AMD's decision to go HBM (assuming the rumour is true) will limit them to a 4GB frame buffer.

because there is a blacklist of certain technologies to/from certain countries where they could potentially be used in undesirable ways - in this case probably pays to explain it is a part related to a video graphics card rather than leaving a big question mark over whether the "computer part" could potentially fall foul of US import/export laws and technology blacklists (eg. equipment that could potentially be used in the development, production or stockpiling of chemical and nuclear weapons)

Re: News - Upcoming AMD R9 390X Fiji and GeForce GTX 960 details leak
I would buy the 390x only if it could crossfire with my 290x.

If it did, I doubt you'd get great results performance-wise. Best to Crossfire the same GPU.

Re: News - Upcoming AMD R9 390X Fiji and GeForce GTX 960 details leak
They both "accidentally" put all that info on the shipping manifest. More like they are trying to gauge interest...

Re: News - Upcoming AMD R9 390X Fiji and GeForce GTX 960 details leak
I saw this article when first released on 12th November 2014, although I am really surprised no-one has picked up on a very glaring piece of information given in the table for the R9-390 series. Look at the last two columns. The price is given in INR (Indian rupees at Rs75,267 PER UNIT). Currency conversion currently shows Rs97 is equal to one pound sterling. That works out at almost 776 pounds sterling PER UNIT. Could it be that the upcoming Herculean 390X is going to cost a whopping 776 quid?.
