I'm not normally one to say this, but that looks very familiar to a tablet already on the market by a well known fruity firm.

Re: News - Nokia N1 Android Lollipop tablet revealed

If they could bring this into the UK market for under £200 (which I believe is doable if we translate $250+20% VAT to £) then it should do well.

They're probably gonna be too late to the party though - if they released it for xmas I'm sure it would be a hit with a lot of people, especially the general public, as they would have all heard of Nokia.

Despite it's similarity to a well known company's effort, I really like this.

My only issue is that there's no confirmation or showing of any Google Apps thus far..

    I certainly wasn't expecting this!

Seeing as Samsung have been slammed for their devices being strangely similar to Apple devices (when actually they werent really), this is a pretty bold move for Nokia. It looks almost identical to an iPad.

Anyone know why they used the Atom?

I mean it's not exactly well known for it's battery life. Was this something that originally was going to be a Win8.1 thing, that then ended up going to the other parent as part of the divorce settlement?

Could be part of it, but if you think that the Tesco tablet is being sold for £130 and that has the same chip, Intel but be chucking them out at a fairly low tray price for device manufacturers.

If priced correctly, I'll be getting this.

Re: News - Nokia N1 Android Lollipop tablet revealed

Looks like a great bit of kit if priced right in the UK. I see what people are saying about similarities, but there are plenty of companies making devices incredibly similar too. Likely the only reason Apple attack are if they sense a direct threat, especially since in some cases there wast even that much of a similarity. Not sure if Nokia still counts as such a threat.

Engadget also said that the N1 looks like an iPad Mini clone too.

Like most here, I think that if they (Nokia) get the price right then they could sell quite a few of these. Only downside (at least according to the review I saw) was that Nokia won't be shipping to China until February and to Europe sometimes after that. Price it at £200 (or below?) and I might be tempted to trade in my old N770!

Re: News - Nokia N1 Android Lollipop tablet revealed

It's such a shame that pretty much all of the manufacturers these days seem to spend there time trying to make there devices not look like a device that Apple makes, With all there suing and what not, They seem to have done the imposable, Patented every colour,Shape or material they have, Or will ever use.
The fact that the very first comment there mentions it's similarity to a Apple device shows the hold that Apple have over our sub subconscious.

I was going to comment that it's nothing like my BB playbook.... tbh it looks unsurpringly like the HP TC1100 (a comment I've made with reference to early iPad designs too).

AFAIK they were practically giving them away at one point - which would explain the massive losses they made in mobile (which they're going to hide in future by merging them with the PC business....)

Re: News - Nokia N1 Android Lollipop tablet revealed

Apple might want to be careful throwing lawyers at this, by all accounts it's just a Foxconn tablet that has licensed the Nokia brand and "OS" (probably to get some traction in Western markets) - other than that Nokia has nothing to do with it, I don't even think they "supply" them.

Last I heard, which was a while ago I admit, Foxconn made pretty much all of Apples mobile kit as well, presumably for a very good price. Attacking that wouldn't be a wise move.

    Same old, same old

    No Micro-SD slot, no buy.

The cloud is not always available and we know that tablet manufacturers are fleecing us on the extra storage
