RAM manufacturer claims lack of RAM cause of 'many' PC problems? No way!
Although it goes without saying that lots of have-a-go PC repairmen lack proper troubleshooting skills. And determining insufficient RAM should have been as easy as opening taskmgr or the resource monitor and see what's choking applications.
Seems wrong to me. I've seen this sort of issue with malware quite a lot. Just seems like a simple sales exercise...
I've lost count of the number of times I've had a friend/colleague/aquaintance/client tell me their computer's running slow, swear blind it's the hard drive, or that "they need an Intel processor", or some other bunk. I've upgraded RAM more times than I've cleaned serious malware infections*; otherwise I've had maybe one or two cases that needed something more serious. It's becoming less of an issue as MS steadily improve Windows' RAM useage which is perhaps why Crucial have decided they need to make the point now...
*or removed bloatware, toolbars, smiley sets, software of dubious origin, and in extreme cases reinstalled Windows from scratch then told them never to let the kids on the PC again.
