Looks good, but too big for my tastes. Hopefully they'll do a mini version but keep wireles charging, removable battery and SD card slot.
Blimey. And people dig at Apple for releasing devices too quickly.
Its the yearly turn around Galaxy S6, HTC One M9?, Sony Experia z4?
still happy with my note 2. snapdragon 810 sucks. Wait for their custom in house 64 bit krait to be finished the 810 is just a crappy stopgap measure to get a 64bit product out now as apple caught em with their pants down on that 1. This will be the generation you want to skip. Looks like 2015 will be another year of my note 2 (which is by no means sad the phone works great.)
Hopefully by the time s7 and note 6 come out there will be a proper snapdragon soc with custom designed arm v8 cores.
Anything further than that? Specific sections? Performance? Power usage? Price? My next phone will probably be powered by the SD810 so I'd like to know your reasoning.
On topic; never one for Samsung's Touchwiz and I feel a 2.5k display in a 5.5 inch packet is just too much. I can't tell pixel with 1080p screens so I would like some flagship phones to keep those screens and use the more powerful SOC's to realise more battery life. Everything else sounds good. Premium materials finally and advancements (hopefully) in camera tech is always welcomed.
"The only slightly odd thing about the shipping manifest is the price, which translates to around US$300 - perhaps this is approximately the materials cost of the device."
Ohh yes it is the real price of the device, dont think it is worth more. When they start manufacturing it for sell it will cost them way less than that. of course dear customer expect it to cost 900$+
64bit is a useless feature, especially on iOS with it's low RAM. It's a future proofing choice not an advantage. 4GB of ram will suffice for a phone for a LONG time to come if the software is optimized.
I thing >4.9" screen is too big for phones to go comforably in my pocket or use in hand. More pixels uses more GPU and battery power to run for just bragging rights. "3GB of RAM and 32GB on-board storage" sounds good because: my old S3 ran out of the 1GB RAM & 16GB storage=slow dog with slow apps and crashes; my new SM-G906K has 3GB with about 1.7 to 2.5GB RAM in use and >14GB storage used.
