I just tried it out watching a video and there was no frame rate reported, unlike fraps which is kind of annoying when watching any videos.

Oh nice, hopefully there will be a way to bind a toggle for it.

Very nice of them to do this.
Combined with the F12 ScreenCap and in-game comms between friends, Steam is getting niftier.
Personally, I still prefer the FPS on Shadowplay, mainly because I have shortcut keys to turn the FPS and recording on/off. The only thing I'd likely want there is a screencap feature too.

All the thumbs up! Now, for full compatibility with D3D9-D3D11.
I'm enjoying ShadowPlay as well but since some games for some reason don't accept its hotkey functionality, will be good to have an alternative.
Re: Valve adds integrated framerate counter to Steam Client Beta update
Well that would be nifty. But wouldn't that almost eradicate the need for software such as Fraps or Dxtory? I mean, they would presumably loose a chunk of their potential and existing customers if there was an easier way to record Steam games.
Re: Valve adds integrated framerate counter to Steam Client Beta update
Indeed Steam is finally starting to branch out to do a few more things other than sell/store our games.
Recently started using the voice comms as our main one for small groups instead of Vent/Mumble, the screencap stuff is good, being able to watch what your friends are playing (added last beta) is AWESOME just to check out a game you're curious about.
Now if they would just update the crappy Steam Web Browser and sort out big picture mode so that 90% of the stuff you click on takes you to a webpage all we will be good :D
