Probably not quite what they are thinking but this made me think of a 'Day Z in space' type game - post Earth, human survivors hiding from whoever destroyed/invaded earth in the fist place, fighting over limited resources and just trying to get by.
So EA are still not convinced that this genre of game is worth funding? Or are Dice testing the waters of working without them?

I'm guessing they are going it alone....
After the fiascos of BF4 (and the BF3 release to some point) and the quality of the newer Lost Planet games, I don't know if they want to be touting their "credentials" too much.....
Also, it seems that 2015 will be the year of the space sim.......I am not a fan of this "bandwagoning" which seems to be happening it just about all forms of media lately.

I would hardly say it's a bandwagon. There is a reason that space sims are starting to appeal more now, that is quality, and with well known programmers starting to realise their dream games with the help of Kickstarter, such as Star Citizen and Elite: Dangerous, gamers are really starting to realise that when big name developers aren't involved, you start seeing quality games that you can immerse yourself in. Companies like EA really stifle creativity and while I play BF4 a lot, it's great to see some control going back to the programmers and creators who have a real passion for their creations.
Well, EA would get to cash in for a start! Imagine if they funded Star Citizen or Elite Dangerous.. No, actually, don't do that... What a horrible vision that is lol...
I agree. There is a fair bit of bandwagon hopping going on after Star Citizen's crowd funding success. It's like all the Minecraft clones, and all the zombie survival horror games etc... But I'm sure there are also some devs that have wanted to make a space sim/game, that weren't sure if it'd sell, until now..
I didn't really like the trailer shown here. But, I do believe Dice can make some amazing games. As long as they don't rush them out that is..
Who isn't making a space sim these days...
Yeah, it's as though they're all jumping on the bandwagon. One person has a great idea, now we're getting flooded with them.
Then again, that's what happens with every good idea...
