Currently use a Samsung M3 2TB 3.0 external and its always in my bag. Use it all the time and even run applications and games directly off it when out and about (128gb SSD in personal laptop and can't install stuff on work laptop )

Would love to replace it with the 1tb version of this... when the price drops

If the pricing starts at £154.79, then that means the 250GB is £154.79 surely? That's a massive markup for an enclosure.

I dunno. Sammy's 850 series SSD's retail for ~ £130-£140 for the 256GB (the ones that also use 3D NAND), so the 'extras' you're paying for are the form factor, what appears to be a very durable and secure enclosure, AES encryption and a decent warranty. It's not too bad, if you ask me.

A bare 250GB mSATA from Samsung retails at £120, so the markup is a lot less than some external HDDs.

I do like the 250gig one but feel it should be a little cheaper in my opinion, retail prices might help a little. When you can grab a caddy and external 2.5inch 250gb for under 100 quid, or you could get 500 range for about 150-160, and that's without hitting one of the ssd deals that pop up from time to time. Admittedly without all the bells and whistles but still.

I think in the current climate you are probably paying slightly less for an external hard drive as you are for a bare drive.
