So all they've done is add a pointless heat sink to the previous version and blinged it up a bit! Nice, let's hope it comes with a massive price cut as well. Also how is this high a performance version when the performance figures are the same as the standard M6e, which by the way, are not overly impressive compared to other pci-e SSD's.

Yes I see very little other than cosmetic changes to the already available M6e, we sell both M.2 only PX-G128 / 256 / 512 M6e versions and the PCIe adaptor versions PX-AG 128 / 256 / 512 M6e very quick storage and nice a neat form factor, ideal for Z97 / X99 based systems.

I'm assuming it has something to do with the new "PlexTurbo 2.0 intelligent SSD caching utility" which may be unique to this M6e black, I also note the new one has a SATA power connector on it which is not a requirement of the existing model...

It looks like it has a PCI-e x4 connector but marketing chose a motherboard with x16 and x1 slots only!

I have to admit I am loving the new M2 and PCI storage options. Make for a very clean build with few wires.

Soon the mechanical hard disks will be abolished from my computers and live solely on the NAS, after all an m2/PCI-e as a boot disk and a 512GB or even 1TB SSD should be sufficient. Less heat, less noise what is there not to like about that

Samsung SM951 is the M.2 PCIe drive I am eager to get my hands on (successor to the XP941)

Hopefully as per the below press release they are getting a little closer to availability!

Re: Plextor launches the M6e Black Edition high performance SSD

When you look at reviews and performance comparisons of RAID 0 on the likes of the Samsung 840 EVO , which will hit 1tb read performance - there is absolutely no benefit to gaming.

Any idea why its got a SATA power connector ? Surely it can pull all the power it needs from the PCiEx slot ?

Looks better than having an ugly green PCB in the middle of a rig. Seriously why is it so hard to have M.2 just on a black PCB.
