    Google to allow other OSes to run on Chromebooks via USB booting

    And running Linux in a window was enabled in developer mode last month.

    Excellent news, I was considering the Toshiba Chromebook 2 when it's released in the UK as a cheap route to a nice light 1080p portable machine. If I can stick Ubuntu on it easily that may seal the deal.

    Why bother with a Chromebook now when you can get a full windows laptop for £180 - HP Stream

    Both use Cloud computing - one works with everything your used too , one does not.
