Anandtech give quite a bit of space to this:

There are a lot of one-off costs in there.

Last time AMD was this undervalued I seriously considered snapping up a few shares. Now they're back down in the pits and I've got some disposable income. Hmmmmm........

Sounds like a bit of a punt, I was expecting better due to the console market.....I doubt that's going to get considerably stronger next fiscal year so are left hoping they come up with something major.....

They are talking a good game regarding "bouncing back" but without upcoming product details your potentially trusting your investment to a PR spin.

It's AMD they have had "one-off costs" as a reason for losses since they bought ATI.

The balance sheet is looking ropey but this is one of the main reasons why they've struggled, they simply cannot pile enough cash into making new products
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!

A lot of these "one-off costs" are writing down on the value of stock. Business's don't plan to produce depreciating stock! They plan to R&D a product, manufacture it, ship it to shops and then stop producing the previous gen item. Rinse and repeat.

AMD just got that sequence wrong, a little...

This isn't much of a surprise though...

Is it bad that I read that bit as "Yay, cheaper CPUS!" ?

This is starting to get scary as a consumer with AMD this low and no decent products to speak of...if they go under Intel and NVIDIA get to control the market.
