Evo - I think that'd be what everyone would abbreviate Evolution to anyway, and although I like it, I suspect they'd rather avoid Echelon because of potential snooping connotations. Also (in general) how many of these would be ruled out because of existing trademark issues - if they can't use a name worldwide, they'd probably rather pick something else. That aside.
Enigma, Entourage, ESP...

Hmm, I'm not convinced that it's necessarily competitive with Chrome and Firefox, and to add insult to injury both of those have been accused of bloated slowness anyway. Plus Chrome/FF are cross-platform whereas IE/Spartan is Windows only.
As to what to call it, if it's got to be Internet E-something, then why not claim "Internet Exploder", since that's what a lot of folks call IE anyway. And the next person to suggest that if this name comes to pass that the ad line should be "Internet Exploder ... it's da bomb!" is going to get a smack on the behind and sent to the naughty step. :p
(Okay, okay, I admit I was taking the mick a bit with that other link, here's a more sensible one. But don't blame me for the mick-taking, Microsoft started it)

"Embedded" seems fitting for a Microsoft browser....

Is it just me that is reminded of the HHGtG bit with the square wheel, trying to decide what colour it should be?
Endoscope, because it can be used to reveal your hidden secrets ;)

Elixa sounds more like some kind of medicine you should take when you can't go number 2's :)
Re: Microsoft seeks name for Project Spartan, must begin with letter E
Perhaps given the decline in market share Microsoft Esoteric.
I'll stick with Chrome for the well developed extensions and general stability, don't give a toss about all the "Google stalks me" rubbish, so what if they do, I'm so dull I probably ruin the statistics.
Re: Microsoft seeks name for Project Spartan, must begin with letter E
Let's be honest? What do people use the Internet for?
Microsoft Internet Erotica
