Most components are consuming less and less power so is there gonna be anyone that needs this? Are there any specs for efficiency? This might help people understand why this has been made.

The only thing I can see it being useful for is a bitcoin mining rig of some kind.

Reliable and smooth 1kW + power on the 12V line? The PSU is sold through a builder that offers a 4 x GTX980 computer.

It might be handy for the rest of us as well though, you never know when you will need to do some resistance soldering or arc welding

Dual 15 core Xeons and 36 drives in RAID 10 with quad R9 290X.

I wonder if that would consume anywhere near 2kW...

There's a few nutters out there who'll get this to run their 4P + quad 980s for Folding

Although bigadv has died now so maybe not

In the oc forums 8pack mentioned that a 5960X with 4 980s in quad SLI drew swomething like 1930W at the wall with this PSU. Note that they were all on massive overclocks

I suppose it would handy if you planned to cool everything with a Peltier maybe.

It would need a lager peltier device, and you still have to get rid of the heat from the hot side of the Peltier junction. A Peltier junction is only a solid state heat pump.
