As well as supporting GRID streaming, many more Android optimised titles are on the way.

Re: Nvidia launches SHIELD Android TV console, powered by Tegra X1
Hang on hasn't Nvidia spent the last few years on a smear campaign telling us how pointless the whole concept has now become? Or is that specifically for consoles they lost the contract for?
Re: Nvidia launches SHIELD Android TV console, powered by Tegra X1
So you can also use this as a Chromecast? I'm intrigued to learn more...
Re: Nvidia launches SHIELD Android TV console, powered by Tegra X1
More interested in Steam Stream Box for 1/4 of the price, stream entire steam library without the need of a nVidia GPU. I'm not sold on GRID, OnLive was pants and I have a feeling nVidia are going to be charging a lot for the service.
Re: Nvidia launches SHIELD Android TV console, powered by Tegra X1
Would make a nice Linux box if it can be hacked into one.

'The world's first Android TV console' What, are we pretending the Ouya doesn't exist? And all those other ones? Not that they were all that good, but this probably won't be much better.

If it doubles as a Chromecast, its already much better. If it has official support from Google then there is a further significant bonus IMO.

Thought that myself at first but don't forget you need a controller for the steam stream box (and the official one is $49) which makes it just half the price of this. Add in that this is full android device and it 'might' be worth the extra however I'd want to know more about what steam are offering first before making a purchases (as it could do more than just stream - we just don't know yet).

The headlining feature of Nvidia's Made to Game event at the GDC a few hours ago was the new SHIELD Android TV console.
Hmm, not the much-anticipated X1-powered Shield Tablet then? Maybe there's some truth in those rumours elsewhere that the X1 draws too much power to work for a gaming tablet.
Given that I got a Dabs special offer on the K1-powered tablet today I was kind of hoping for a "Mark 2" tablet with the X1. Might end up getting a K1 then in autumn for going on holiday with. Unless someone out there has a recommendation for another Android tablet with crazy-long battery life and decent gaming performance...
Re: Nvidia launches SHIELD Android TV console, powered by Tegra X1
I tried Steam streaming and was monumentally unimpressed. Maybe nvidia's solution is better but nothing is as sure as 15m HDMI & USB cables running from the office PC to the living room!
Re: Nvidia launches SHIELD Android TV console, powered by Tegra X1
those other android consoles where just normal android, when he said first he was referring to the android tv OS, the one even sony is making of in its 2015 tvs
Re: Nvidia launches SHIELD Android TV console, powered by Tegra X1
hold on one second - didnt Nvidia announce this device to support 10bit colour? why does the specs above indicate otherwise.
Re: Nvidia launches SHIELD Android TV console, powered by Tegra X1
All the games listed are pretty 'meh' in my opinion. This will not take off. They'll sell a few, but once the competitors release their own versions, and more importantly, Nvidia begin charging for what what is a limited list of defunct/old games, they'lll have to look at something else.
