Well competition is good, I like netflix and amazon prime, having another source for content will only be good!
Hahahaha. No.The entertainment service will be piped to Apple TV and supported iOS devices at prices ranging from $30 to $40 per month

I was expecting as much after the limited-time exclusive they got on HBO last week, assumed that was the tip of the iceberg....
These services should be available from a non-apple web browser, although the prices have put me off already.

I find it very odd for Hexus to portray the issue between Apple and Comcast as bypassing congestion on the web.Channels under NBC Universal's umbrella, such as USA and Bravo, are unlikely to appear at launch following the disagreements between Apple and NBC's parent company Comcast. Apple and Comcast were in early-stage discussions last year to offer a streaming-TV solution that would allow Apple's set-top boxes to bypass congestion on the web.
The reality is Comcast wanting apple to pay them to not throttle their service on their network which is not about web congestion but them wanting to double dip from the consumer who wants to access the net and content providers like Netflix and YouTube to carry their data because they would rather users use their own VOD service which makes them more than carrying internet traffic.
Quite.
No shock that that's what they're proposing, though. I just don't buy into the whole Apple cult thing, though, pefsonally. Yet, I kinda understand why many do. Some products (iPod, mainly, for me) are pretty good, though I deliberately went non-Apple for an MP3 player. Others .... okay.
Marketing? Excellent. Full marks.
lol... announced at world wide developers conference... new features likely only available in America (HBO is US only)
Honestly I just want 1 or 2 providers to support EVERYTHING or for them to ask a fair price for their services (note the $30 to $40 price - is that per service)...there's no way anyone can justify the potential £100+ a month just to get a decent selection of programs online.
We had the same here a few years ago when the football got split up......instead of a one-ff £50 per premiership season pass, you now have to subscribe to Sky Sport 1,2,3,4 and 5, Setanta and BT Sport to get the same.....around £50 PER MONTH.
And they wonder why piracy is on the rise.

mmm a new DDoS to target
Think you need to read your history books!
Apple are a successful business, providing a high return to their investors. They have done that, like many other successful businesses by building a strong brand with a strong brand loyalty. The products aren't bad either!
But you aren't forced to buy them, you have a choice. I certainly wouldn't pay that for a TV channel, even if it was available in the UK, but then 95% of my TV is met by BBC1, 2 and 4. (The other 5% is met from freesat commercial or BBC3).
But I'm quite happy for those that need/want the service, and are prepared to pay for it to do so.
