If they cannot persuade users in China to be honest, they may as well try to get some return by selling cloud services to them (as well as avoiding prolonging the problems that they now have where they are forced to provide free security updates for pirated copies of XP in China).
Re: Windows 10 launches in 190 countries this summer
are they still offering free upgrades to windows 8 users?

I'll upgrade if I can actually upgrade, my win 8 rigs won't go to win 8.1...
I'm also curious if I'll be able to upgrade win 7 without it being installed, suppose I can wait till it's released to find out.
Re: Windows 10 launches in 190 countries this summer
Hope there is a clean install upgrade option

What we've been told so far (TechRadar, Tom's Hardware) seems to suggest that a clean install option should be available to all users but Windows 7/8/8.1 users should also be able to upgrade to 10 directly.
Source (regarding the upgrade path, at least) -- from Gabriel Aul's Twitter.

It's not so much the clean install I'm curious over (that will likely be there like win 8), it's more a case of I've got 'spare' win 7 licenses which I can use to get a free copy of win 10, they're just not actually on a computer at the moment so that's why I'm curious :)
Re: Windows 10 launches in 190 countries this summer
I see VentureBeat supposedly have confirmation that everyone can upgrade from a pirate version of Windows for the first year.....
If true, hows that for buying market share?
Re: Windows 10 launches in 190 countries this summer
I'm using an enterprise key for 8.1 from work, wonder if I'll be able to update even if work isn't interested.

Hmm, not sure how they will handle MAKs......I know that MAKs have historically been exempt from upgrades (unless upgrading with media and a new key)
I just hope the KMS emulators get updated in a swift manor ;)
