Diminishing market with a near monopoly player.

    No wonder they are struggling.

Don't know how much money there is in the enthusiast desktop market but they haven't made a release that challenges the competitor since 2010 :/

    um.... lets see
most countries are in debt meaning prices etc for basics cost more meaning less spare money to spend on pc's etc
pc's from 5+ years ago are still more than capable of running most things except recent games
no real reason to buy an amd chip due to being slower than intel (or appears to be)

    Not to mention
AMD focused on an area which is nowhere near as important as they thought it was, the software hasn't caught up to using both cpu and gpu.
AMD didn't focus on battery life for mobile chips like intel and graphics like nvidia did

Honestly what did they expect to happen with their 2015 results... they've not helped themselves in the slightest.

Doesn't help the r300 gcard series has been held off and possibly many (like myself) are not buying any amd gcards until we see how the 300 fare and cost in june/july.

AMD's aquisition of ATi just looks like a worse and worse decision every year.

You mean they should have just accepted they were going down and gone quietly a few years ago rather than holding on?

No - they should have actually invested that $4.5billion (that's BILLION) cash (that's CASH) into something that would have made a difference for their company as it was - they could have done 2 complete refurbs on their existing fabs, or actually built an entirely new facility. Instead they bought a floundering GPU company, and their board of directors has made it some kind of sport in seeing how quickly they can change C*O's. Then they bought a microserver company, designed exactly one system with it, and then sold it for a 1/4 of a billion dollar loss.

Some people constantly complain about competing against a 'near monopoly' - that red herring no longer applies. The PC market is down. The tablet/phablet market is up big time. Intel isn't making those chips. Intel didn't make a single, solitary chip for the current generation of overpriced, underpowered gaming consoles. Unless I'm going senile, I'm pretty sure that was AMD. I'm pretty sure that Samsung is powering the majority of the tablet and smart phone industry.

Plain and simple - if your goalkeeper can't keep the ball out of the net, you don't get to blame the guy kicking the ball. AMD's worst enemy is AMD. Period.

Well if the rumors surrounding Samsung buying AMD are true, this is good news as they will pick it up cheaper. Frankly AMD has no choice but to be brought by an up to date company with up to high tech manufacture factories and cash to throw into research.

AMD's days are numbered on their own.

Not sure if AMD got any money from the Wii GPU as it was designed under ATI, but providing the GPU for all current generation GPU has to count for something.
I would be kinda sad of AMD end up going especially when Creative is still somehow floating around. Last time I've checked, they've been making a loss for a while, their share price has been near the bottom for quite some time now, haven't released anything that made enthusiasts excited in a long time.. yet are still floating around.
