the one I have now has 4 GB (980), so I would say probably at least 6? that is if I get a 4K display to go with it, otherwise it's probably wasted.
Plan is to get skylake if it's a hefty improvement over my current I7 3770K, and by that I mean something like 30%, if not I'll wait to see what AMD pulls out of their hat with Zen.
As for GPU, I think I'm good for at least 2 years, will see what happens until then. I could go either way, although I had bad experiences with AMD drivers in the past (6970).

Don't let a bad experience in the past cloud your judgement over future decisions, especially if you are thinking about products that haven't been released yet and for the record, I don't recall any major driver issues with my single 6970, my 2x 6970's in Crossfire or my 6990 when I had those. The one time when I thought I was experiencing driver issues was resolved when I tried installing a fresh copy of Windows on a different drive and then running the same drivers to see that the issue no longer existed.

With DX12 and Vulkan on the horizon, you might as well stick with the 3770 until it dies or becomes obsolete - some time after the successors to PS4 and XBONE releases......

Re: QOTW: How much RAM must your next graphics card have?

With games already breaking 3.5gb I think 4gb is the minimum for me. I think the best cards for VR won't be here till Pascal next year. The question is will CV1 be here this year?

besides the BSOD I got from atikmpag.sys, which was fixed by reinstalling the OS, there was one specific issue which afaik is still present for the 6xxx series, and that would be in dota 2, with 2 monitors, the mouse cursor would get corrupted, and to fix it I had to reset my display setup from 2 to 1 to 2 again; needless to say that is not a good thing to do while playing in a multiplayer game.
Will see when time comes to upgrade what I will purchase. Maybe AMD got their stuff together finally, I'll read reviews and decide when the time comes, both for CPU and GPU upgrades.
As a note, I had AMD CPUs back when P4 was a bust, a Barton, and that CPU was awesome. Unfortunately since then, AMD did not have anything for me as far as CPUs go.
