The Crystal Xx has a larger screen than the LG G4 yet smaller dimensions overall.

Bezel-less, I'm not sure it means what they think it means. But if they're talking about the bezel between display material and the casing then fair enough

Re: Sharp unveils pair of Aquos Crystal bezel-less smartphones

Personally I think "bezel-less" is a dead-end - you're always going to need some "dead space" around the screen to allow your fingers to get a good hold. I'm wondering though if the "mere" 1080p and that 3000mAh battery means that this'd get good battery life. Also wondering not about the bezellessness of the screen but (a) how it clear it is and (b) what the sun glare resistance is like. Getting a case for a phone with that little bezel is going to be "interesting"...

And yes, I'd definitely want a case - I'm clumsy and besides that Crystal Xx is no looker.

Crystal 2's side touch sensitivity sounds like a good marketing ploy, but again I'd be wary since I'd insist on using a case.

Anyone know what Sharp are like for doing OS upgrades, and what their UI's like?

Career status: still enjoying my new career in DevOps, but it's keeping me busy...

Being an old fogey, I find it highly amusing that when mobile phones started they were the size of brick but gradually got smaller and smaller until they stopped being mere phones and are rapidly increasing in size (but not depth thankfully) back up to being the size of brick.

Battery life has also gone back to square one as well. I cannot help wondering if my son's Galaxy camera is representative of the future of the smartphone? Mobile internet, wifi, decent computing power, great camera, SMS but no phone

Can't believe phones are still being launched using the snapdragon 400 - that thing is ancient! Also slightly odd that the cheaper phone is much fatter but has a smaller battery - what's taking up all that extra space?!

Depends on the OS the SoC's used on

Re: Sharp unveils pair of Aquos Crystal bezel-less smartphones

Not a fan of bezel less devices as where do you hold it. My nexus 7 is a prime example. Has a big top and bottom bezel so when lying in the bath watching videos in landscape mode I can hold it fine without

    1. Obscuring the screen
    2. Touching the onscreen buttons
    3. Dropping the thing in my bubbles.

With a bezel less device you wouldn't be able to do most of those things.

    Also.......

If you drop a device without a bezel I can put money in it that as the screen is so near the edge of the device, I bet the screen will crack.
