I wonder who'll be the first reviewer to do a 'how its built' breakdown, where they show it with the case off.
like hexus do when reviewing http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/storag...tor-180-480gb/ images at bottom.

that'll be fun when they realise what they've done

unless the platter part is additionally sealed off under the normal outer case.

you also wont be able to do data recovery very well with swapping parts from other drives. wonder if these data recovery firms will bother getting the necessary equipment to reseal with helium, or will you be screwed if a part fails?

    (Yes, I know that this might be a n00b question - I don't design HDD's ... I only fill 'em!)
the helium fill means the HDD has to be sealed very well with no leaks, so the oil should remain on the outside. You'd get great cooling for the components immersed in the oil, and it should stay away from the vulnerable bits on the inside
