I'm on the coat tails of a group that's got to 1,500 in half a day, while there are other rooms that have gone past 10,000 in the same time frame.

By the end of the sale, and with some optimisation they should be able to reach 300,000 I think.
The game is also changing, prices are lower today, also the upgrade types stopped at Farming Equipment and Railgun previously. They've now added AFK Equipment and New Mouse Button above those. So I wonder if they're going to add a new "tier" of weaponry each day, in which case level 300,000 should definitely appear.

So how much have people spent on the sale. It's my first one steam sale. I've only spend £17 or so. Crysis 1 and Warhead + The Old Blood.

I'm horrified to say probably more than £60 (am deliberately not checking exactly)

OTOH I like to think I saved a ton and would've only got 2 premium console titles for the same price. Now I have a couple of dozen games I won't play compared to 2 or 3 I wouldn't play.... result!

Re: Steam's Monster Summer Sale has started

Am I the only one who dislikes steam and similar platforms..?!
Always-on DRM, non-moddable games (redownloads/replaces "corrupt" files automagically) and the stupid forced game updates are what keeps me several kilom..miles away from it.
Sadly this also means that I can't play games like Cities: Skylines (the better Simcity 2013) or Beam NG drive legally.. and game devs still wonder about the piracy figures

Alternatively you can play the games on Steam that don't use DRM, are modable and work without updates.

Sadly this also means that I can't play games like Cities: Skylines
Skylines is a game that disproves your arguement for example - perfectly modable in Steam.

    Sounds like HUKD fever!

Don't need it, won't use it, have no plans to, bought it because it's 75% of, bargain. In reality, it's not money saved at all!

(He says with a Steam library in excess of 120 games)

    We're well beyond that now.

By fluke, I've ended up tonight in the same room as shaithis, 44444 which might not be top of the leader board (about 12th) but definitely the best number room for a while

The room I'm in (44374) is the highest I've got so far, 53940 and counting. The top Reddit group is over 3 million!

Are you using scripts at all? I'm running https://github.com/SteamDatabase/steamSummerMinigame and it seems to do the trick.

The reddit groups are being thrashed now (often deliberately sabotaged by other people) - top 5 on the leaderboard are non-reddit groups - #1 is at 51 million!

edit: ah they are reddit groups, just not put in the naming file yet. Leader did a 3.1million level jump with whs!
