Gotta say, this Steam sale is the worst one I've seen so far (pretty subjective opinion, I know). Any of the bigger games that have come out within the last year are still significantly cheaper on the key stores (I'm talking about Worldwide/EU keys too, not Russian Vpn keys). Normally I pickup about 5+ games in these sales. This year, I picked up one, which was still about a quid cheaper on Kinguin.
How's everyone else found this years summer sale? Any good bargains? Anything good that's passed a lot of peoples radars? I'm up for having another look before it all ends

Disappointed with the sale too. Bought 1 game and that was all.
I picked up 14 games this sale. Only half of these were recent games though. The other half were either games I had back on my 360 that I enjoyed or other games in a franchise that I enjoyed. Eg Crysis 1. I spent just under £60 which I don't think is too bad. I think I felt more comfortable purchasing this time round knowing that I can get a refund, and I probably will on a couple of games if I don't like them much.Originally Posted by ZaO

That bit in bold means that they are more likely to buy the more expensive games, Football Manager is popular in the UK, which is always more expensive than a lot of games.
Ah yeh, the refund thing. I keep forgetting about that. I could definitely demo a few games with that available. It's not like the Key stores will give a refund if the game is crap..
Picked up 3 and only one is a new title. I Won't pay more than a tenner for the games I want and I'm more than prepared to wait!
I have also found this sale a tad poor. Still as there's so many of them, I can happily wait to buy the games I want for the prices I want to pay.
I'm far from cheap, but I am running a very old rig & am simply fed up buying contrived, buggy overhyped games on launch.
Put me on the list of people disappointed in this years sale. In the end I got 11 games and a bit of DLC for Euro Truck Sim and pinball FX. Many of the discounts this year didn't even match prices from last year !
The sales where not that bad, I got Defense Grid 2, a story about my uncle and metro 2034 and after selling the steam cards also got Grey Matter. All that for 10 euro (more actually because of the cards I sold, but I paid just 10 directly).
What was bad? The mini game, I mean damn I'm disappointed. Do you remember how it used to be?
You could earn something in the past from those minigames, like free games, discount coupons, steam icons/backgrounds...
Now all you get are those stupid cards to make the badge, didn't bothered at all, just joined every day to get the cards and sell them.
Normally I would buy a few but this time round I didn't pick any up. Wasn't the best sale in my opinion.

I might be jaded, but I totally agree. Never have I spent less in a Steam sale then this time. I bought exactly two games. Dino D-Day for a whopping 0.49€ and Broken Sword - The Serpent's Curse for 4.59€. A popular misconception. On average the prices in € are higher than those in £, although of course there are execptions.
For people living in countries outside the Euro zone there's the added bonus of exchange rates, meaning that the games become more expensive still.
Surprised to see GTAV getting 225000 sales in China. If Steam get traction there and overcome the massive piracy (and privacy) problem, the market is just getting started and has obviously enormous potential. 10 years before it overtakes USA in dollar sales?

I didn't buy anything* this time around, although I usually do most of my spending during the Christmas sale, as the better offers seem to happen then. Can't claim disappointment, because there was really nothing I was looking for.
*I buy $100 in Steam cards in May and again in November - that way I've already set maximum budget, and if there's nothing I want, I'm good for the next sale, or possibly the next sale on an item I want that's on my wishlist.
I will occasionally pay full price for a DRM free game on GOG but not on Steam. I have even started to ignore sale prices on Steam.
If Steam games were sold with a known DRM free re-release date that would significantly changes how I value the service and the software. Devs could set the DRM free date however they like as ether a fixed date after the game is release or as a period of time after purchase, Refunds have done nothing to increase the value of the games.
Nothing purchased in Steam sales.
I got three in at the last moment, only because I didn't want to miss out, no games I REALLY wanted though. Spent £15.
