Meanwhile in Windows7 users get warnings for exploits of using gadgets such as calendar onj the desktop...
Re: Microsoft publishes video to show off built-in Windows 10 apps
Didn't really show off anything. Or even show anything. I learnt precisely nothing from that video. :/
Re: Microsoft publishes video to show off built-in Windows 10 apps
I must say, that has to be the worst advertising I have yet to see for a Windows release

Well, I don't know about that.
This might be the clearest hint yet of what MS meant by "changing how we monetise" Windows. for example, the article references to paid subscriptions for "ad-free streaming".
Personally, the issue of whether I "upgrade" (though I remain unconvinced it actually is an upgrade because it looks more like a large sidegrade) at all is still in the balance but my desire, or lack thereof, for an MS Account isn't in the balance at all. I do NOT want to give them ANY personal information at all, nor any sort of mandate to use it. So the chances of me buying either apps in their store or any of their enhanced services is precisely zip.
All I really want from a PC is what I've wanted from it for the last 15 or 20 years, which is running MY choice of software, and what I want from an OS is the same. For me, upgrading to Win10 is increasingly looking like buying a plane ticket to Jamaica only to board, and be told the airline thinks Uzbekistan looks nice, so they're going there, instead. Well, nice or not I neither know nor care, I just want to go to Jamaica.

I still can't read any email with the Windows 10 built-in email app...

Have you paid for the 'unhide' service yet? ;)
Receiving mail is free. If you want to read it though .....
Sorry. Couldn't resist. :D
Re: Microsoft publishes video to show off built-in Windows 10 apps
I love how we are told in the second video that only 6 percent of people use ALT+TAB, Microsoft seems to rely so heavily on this feedback, telemetry, spying on users, AKA the Customer Experience Improvement Program, yet they still haven't worked out that most people with a modicum of technical nouse and concerns over privacy disable Microsoft's spyware.
They made the same mistake when they removed the StartMenu, their telemetry showed usage of it dropping and people pinning stuff to the taskbar instead so they decided to remove it and where did that get them.
Re: Microsoft publishes video to show off built-in Windows 10 apps
This time Microsoft has done good move with Windows10! And this being the Final windows, now its all in the hands of developers and support team to make it a grant success and a future friendly OS .
Re: Microsoft publishes video to show off built-in Windows 10 apps
There's an official 'Quick Guide' docx document now available, which introduces you to Windows 10, Cortana, Microsoft Edge, Apps, Security and more. It's here.

^^This! Entirely! Like Google, they want your data. I won't oblige them.

I do like Mohammed Samji in the bottom video. The way he talks and expresses himself is very compelling. I learnt alot from that video.
Microsoft have to float massive PR for windows 10 with the likes of the top video. Cinema, TV, Online....Everywhere. Simple, alive and to the point advertising.

Really? I haven't made it to the end yet as ever time I start watching it I nod off, it's full of marketing buzz words and sounds like he's trying to convert people to some kind of religious sect. :)
Re: Microsoft publishes video to show off built-in Windows 10 apps
with win 10 I just want an operating system that works so I CAN LOAD MY OWN SOFTWARE
I don't want any Microsoft apps Cortana, OneDrive, Microsoft store, tiles, don want any bloated software apps,
Relay don't want Microsoft having any of my information
LETS NOT FORGET MICROSOFT IS SPYWARE AND THEY PASS YOUR PRIVATE DATA ON TO THE STATE IF ASKED
I HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE BUT I WANT TO BE IN CONTROL NOT MICROSOFT, GOOGLE, APPLE AND ALL THE OTHER CROOKED COMPANIES THAT SELL YOUR DATA.
Re: Microsoft publishes video to show off built-in Windows 10 apps
I just noticed they have put the fully-fledged windows backup solution back in to Windows 10. It's still annoyingly hidden but has scheduling and backup location tidy etc.
Considerably more excited about that than anything in the vid :p
