Why the need for AES encrypted connections on a K+M, is hacking into wireless peripherals a thing?

I am sure it is and going forward will probably be a greater risk.

Hijacking a wireless keyboard would make for an almost undetectable keylogger.

Seems a very awkward way to log someones keystrokes as you have to be within a 30 foot radius, as these peripherals are aimed at Windows 10 wouldn't it just be easier to subvert the built in keylogger for your own nefarious reasons.

Re: Microsoft introduces new and updated Windows 10 peripherals

Still no 'replacement' for my old wireless intellimouse (explorer 2.0 in my case), you struggle to even find an MS mouse with two thumb buttons on the side now. I like MS keyboards and mice and have had better luck with their hardware than others but it looks like my next upgrade is going to be a logitech mouse... shame the only logitech mouse that looks interesting costs like 80 quid!

Also not sure why we need aes encryption on a keyboard/mouse... but I'm sure there's a reason they don't want other's spying on our data, I'm sure it's worth a pretty penny to the right people
