Fallout 4 players can continue, level up after game 'completion'

Unlike Fallout 3 and New Vegas where the game just ended when the story finished.

Yes but if there's no reason to then it's pointless

Blitz the main story to get whatever upgrades it gives you then spend an obscene amount of time playing the rest of the game, sounds good to me!

I think it pee'd a lot of people off in FO:NV when the game just ended at conclusion of the main story with no option to carry on exploring or starting/finishing DLC campaigns - so well done Bethesda!

so in your world you have to finish all DLC story/missions before the end of the main story, well done

There goes my life! Hopefully VR will be supported too.

VR just from the point of separating the aiming from the looking around would be nice. I'm quite happy to be seated and have the mouse control what I'm pointing my weapon at. It would be little more than a gimmick, but if done right could rather add to the immersion.

This is actually how I play most games. Just finished The Witcher 3 today, was quite pleased to see that I could still carry on and finish off the few side quests I didn't finish on the way (basically the trials on Skellige and the Gwent quests)
Fallout (for me, at least) was great for people like myself - loads of side-missions to lose myself in.

I like being able to continue after main quest. theres some games where you don't even realise its the last quest (R.A.G.E. for example) then you go "was that it? but I didn't even go to this area" :( so the option to continue is very welcome.
the other option is to do what Witcher 3 is about to do, New Game+ restart the game, but you keep levels and some gear from previous run. enemies will start at the level you finish previous run at. this allows you somewhat to enjoy the story more without worrying too much about your equipment 2nd time through.
\'random thought\'
do you think there\'ll be an option on the companion app to see what your companion is looking at?
send your dog over to hide in a bush, look at app, you see what the dog sees, because its got a mini camera mounted on its collar or some such.

that would be a sweet addition

Having only played New Vegas and a bit of Fallout 3, I never completed the story missions as I was always distracted by the side quests first so didn't even realize this was a problem! Why on earth wasn't it always like this? :S
