Okay, so if it is largely the same what are the differences?

Re: NZXT launches GRID+ V2 digital fan controller

Seems to me that fans are used less of late and besides, the motherboard (AT least ASUS) has it's own fan controller which works fine.

I have the V1 Grid+. It's a pretty decent fire and forget controller. Set up your fan curves and forget about it.

The CAM software seems to update fairly often, ironing out any little annoyances.

    Pretty good all round

OMG. It just makes me think that there will be more cable clutter. I think I'll pass.

It's small enough to fit behind the motherboard tray. It can actually reduce cable clutter.

The only problem with the V1 was what appear to be a total lack of stock!

On my case the space behind my motherboard is where I install my HDDs and SSD, but yes you're right, it could help reduce the clutter by having fewer cables attaching directly to the mobo. I guess my post was more of a knee jerk reaction.

Do you know if its possible for the fan curves to be dependant on the GPU rather than CPU temperature?

Huh, I always assumed the GRID came with temperature sensors/probes but looking at it now I can't see anything to suggest that's true. I certainly hope that's possible through the software then; it seems like a pretty over-engineered solution if all it does is tie 8 fans to a custom curve based on CPU temp.

Yes. My fan curve is based on the GPU temperature.

Is something like this worth getting for the new desktop I'm building? I'm new to building PC (this will be my first) and haven't even thought about something like this :S Thanks in advance for any advice

Depending on your motherboard, you should have plenty of fan headers, so it won't hinder your build. You can easily fit one afterwards, if you find your current setup lacking in any way.

Re: NZXT launches GRID+ V2 digital fan controller

I would just like to have some fans spin up when the GPU heats up and others for the CPU, ideally I would be able to have a set of logic rules depending on various sensors... but perhaps that's a bit much to ask
