But it postpones the Project Ara modular smartphone until 2016.

Been running the Marshmallow preview on my N5 for a while now and have just updated to the Final preview this morning. All looks good and is stable enough to be my daily driver if I so wish.

Hmm, so presumably we'll start to see the "When is your phone getting M?" articles sometime this week.

Shame about Ara, a very interesting development to be sure, but hopefully this isn't the first stage in it being cancelled.

My trusty Samsung Galaxy S2 is still on 4.1.2 Jellybean. Yeah, I know I should root it, but I can't find a good root mechanism for it since it's an I9100G.

Why do they upgrade so fast - so many people aren't on Lollipop yet! If they had all their user base on one OS it would be much easier to implement significant changes that people could enjoy...

It's the responsibility of the phone manufacturers to release updates for their phones, not Google.

because 5.0 was a failure and thats the reason many people and their phones are still on 4.x rather then battery and resource eating 5.x

Never mind rooting it, if the experience my colleagues have had with their S3's is anything to go by then you should definitely slap a 3rd party ROM on it - SlimKat seems to be the preferred one. There's a good selection available on the XDA I9100G development forum.

Last week, I had a 5.1 update from 4.4 on my Moto G 4G and not sure if it was worth it. The keyboard itself is too small and the notifications are not working in the way they were intended. In fact, I'd the say the update had a disorienting effect on me though I quickly getting used to the quirks.

I don't think there is enough polish in the forthcoming Android M to overcome some of the clunkiness in Lolipop.
