It would be nice if all these smartphone and tablet makers sold cheaper versions without cameras

Current x3 atom doesn't support that resolution....
Deaf people would be OK with them being sold without the speaker, there are different redundant components for different people - but making 101 SKUs really complicates the manufacturing and sales, which pushes up costs and just makes it a bad idea. Most people use the speaker, the camera, etc. so numbers of units shifted without them would be tiny and probably not cost effective.Quote:

They could use surface branding to differentiate from lumia's to show it has pen support, x86, continuum or even just to separate business/consumer models so using another brand isn't completely out there. Do I think this is a real product.... sort of, I can see a large windows phone with pen support but not so much it being an x3 atom...Quote:

I have a Note 3, it's been gradually wearing me down to the point I was pretty sure, my next phone would not be Samsung.
A couple of days ago it decided to update itself (no request, just a forced update, leaving me without my mobile for quite a while during the process-thankfully it had a reasonable charge)
This update has disabled many of yhe features I made use of and ultimately the reason I purchased it in the first place.
Looks like Windows are turning things around too, who'd have thunk
