Possibly more relevant to some, that is the first DisplayPort monitor I have seen under £100 as well.

With this and the news that Intel will be using the standard in the future, I wonder how long GSync can last.

Hear hear. I'm not paying for GSync, and I'm not using a Radeon.

Wish they made these in G-sync for the same price - what a buy! Hope G-sync drops in price OR both free sync and G sync combine so there is only one standard - would make it much easier!

Whilst it is a low Freesync range, it shows just how cheap Freesync can be implemented for.

Freesync is already a VESA standard EvZ_2.

Yes, definitely. I was wondering why all these other screens were so damn expensive when FreeSync supposedly didn't add much to the costs. I think they were probably inflating prices just to cash in. If so, that's disgraceful and going against amd's good will and intended outcome. You try and do a nice thing for people, you know... :/

I don't think it is quite that bad. You need the latest panel controller to have the spec implemented, you need a DisplayPort interface which will be on top of not instead of the usual HDMI/vga, they probably need to do some testing and tweaking that they aren't used to which adds a bit to development costs first time you do it, but less each time as it becomes routine.

There was a time when getting a monitor with DVI input rather than just VGA was quite a price hike.

I'm still procrastinating over 1440p displays though so not tempted by these just now.

Yeh I really don't know tbh. Was just a thought! I still have a 1920x1080 screen. I really want an ultra widescreen monitor though so I can fit loads of stuff on the screen for music production. Thing is, I want something that's awesome for gaming on too - low input lag/ghosting etc. FreeSync would be a nice addition, but I don't care too much about it. But, if it is going to get a lot cheaper, I'll probably pickup a freesync monitor next time round, as long as it does about 100hz.

That's what I'm sayin.. Monitors are far too expensive. I wish 3D screens took off more so we could have regular monitors cheaper :(

Considering I\'m looking to replace my current monitor and was looking at probably ending up with the ASUS VS247HR, these looks like an absolute bargain though. Will wait for some proper reviews but may well go for one of these instead, assuming AOC\'s build quality is good.

AOC\'s build quality is ok....not brilliant. Liked the panel performance on the last monitor I specced for a client for the price though

Figured that would be the case, cost has to be cut somewhere. So far these are the first 1080p Displayport monitors I've seen at anywhere near this price range. Most are atleast £200+

would like to see a 27" version for £160 also
