A report says that "Microsoft is seriously talking to AMD," about the deal.

I really hope they don't ... everything they touch turns to rubbish ... lol
Re: AMD shares spike due to rumours that Microsoft will buy it
I'm sure we've heard (or maybe suggested?) this one before. MS are trying to compete with Apple in the phone/tablet space. Acquiring Nokia got them control in one, AMD might help with the other. Of course, they might be after ARM...
Re: AMD shares spike due to rumours that Microsoft will buy it
On the console front, it would make perfect sense.. Microsoft would be winning from PS4 and Wii sales too. The US authorities also don't like foreign buyers of US firms, so I didn't believe the Samsung potentially buying AMD story a while ago.
Re: AMD shares spike due to rumours that Microsoft will buy it
One problem won't the x86 licence be invalid if AMD Sells at all? Or is it just fine if they sell off certain divisions?
Re: AMD shares spike due to rumours that Microsoft will buy it
Like I wrote in a comment for the Fudzilla article (and which has currently mysteriously disappeared).

Am I the only one immediately stumbling over this? Either this article is from the future or someone didn't even care to edit it before unleashing it on the unsuspecting public.
Don't know if you can take that article seriously in any way...
Re: AMD shares spike due to rumours that Microsoft will buy it
I hope SAMSUNG will buy AMD not intel or the windows boyz.....what happened to Nokia is that MS messed the quality of Lumia products, nowadays they are hazzy and low qwal

That doesn't appear to be what the reviews are saying.

I thought AMD’s fiscal year followed the standard calendar year. :shocked2:

I have no idea - they're able to set their own after all, but the most common is April-March.

Not only does it state nowhere in the article anything about the fiscal year, but even if it did we would hardly be through "most of 2016".
Re: AMD shares spike due to rumours that Microsoft will buy it
Yep, seems like they do follow calender:
http://ir.amd.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=74093&p=irol-faq
In which case Fud is just mistaken, which is hardly anything new, but a typo doesn't reflect on the specific article (just usual quality of articles perhaps).
Re: AMD shares spike due to rumours that Microsoft will buy it
Would be rather amusing after so many years of hearing the phrase WINTEL :)

WAMD? ;)
For some reason the editor insists on lowercasing the acronym unless I follow up with another sentence.
