Re: Nvidia SHIELD Android TV will be available in Europe tomorrow

So realistically, I cant really see the need for a 500GB model when there is an expansion slot.

£49.99 for a controller is serious money though. Although there is one included with the device, I would imagine that most people interested in this would want an additional controller at a minimum. That puts the basic minimum total at £200.

    If you went all in:
    £150 Console
    £150 Extra 3 controllers
    £40 Remote
    £25 Stand

    Total £365... Ouch...

I kind of want an Android TV device to replace my OpenElec Pi2 (it doesn't look like they are going to officially support Kodi 15.2 for a long time which causes problems when using a mixed Kodi/OpenElec environment with an external SQL database) but so far none of them are particularly compelling. Would be nice to see coming in lower in the market and ignoring the 'gaming' element.

The previous shield devices have been of really poor quality. This is going to be a miss for me.

At £200 I'd rather build an AM1 or FM2 system and then use Steam streaming....and save the subscription cost!

For £25 quid, I would expect the Shield stand to beam the game into my brain!

Isn't it funny that shield is becoming less and less portable and more and more expensive?

They continually boast about how many times more powerful thus device is than competitors, but fail to mention you also pay several times more.

As mentioned above, for what this does, it does nothing better, that a cheaper system couldnt do.

Theyre clearly banking on game streaming and want to beat the many, many other subscriptions services due to land

They really do need to rethink the price on this because this is mad but we do live in Rip Off Britain.

Re: Nvidia SHIELD Android TV will be available in Europe tomorrow

I think it is a decent price given that it is one of the few true 4K60 media devices on the market - the only thing you may have concerns with is it's ability to play HDR content. Apart from that it is as up to date as you will get ...

Re: Nvidia SHIELD Android TV will be available in Europe tomorrow

Honestly, the price isn't that bad for what it is, if I had a non-smart big tv I'd be tempted by it. I've been prettty impressed with gamestream (over moonlight) Obviously you're somewhat limited to what games you can play, but having access to effectively a full power gaming PC in hotels etc is pretty cool.

This is obviously not cheap, but its likely going to be the same price as say apple TV which is in the same ball park, if slightly different in terms of target market.

Cool. Now give me the new Shield Portable, because if I were to buy an Android console, I would want it to be damn portable.

This is NVIDIA(NSHIDIA) for you ppl, money milking company. May AMD stand up and take the share from NVidia or else we will have to pay premium for an NVIDIA Graphic to play Counter Strike at 1024x740. Than after I will stop using PC.

Really? I hadn't noticed anything particularly poor with my Shield Tablet (even before the battery recall). Well built, great screen, good stuff. And only cost a couple of hundred at the time.

There were a massive cases of the tablet frame cracking and had to be rma, there were also many problems with the wifi and video streaming ie netflix. The units I got all had massive light bleed.
